[XP] IDE installatieprobleem opgelost - Windows clients

Ik heb heel lang gezocht naar een oplossing voor een probleem wat ik lange tijd had. Mijn Primary en Secondary IDE channel kon ik niet installeren, want dan kreeg ik steeds de volgende foutmelding:

driver is not intended for this platform

Dit is een heel vaag probleem maar ik zag op internet dat er meer mensen waren met een soortgelijk probleem bij het installeren van (IDE) devices.

MAAR: ik heb een oplossing gevonden! Het bleek een probleem te zijn van Daemon Tools. Het is een bekend probleem dat Daemon Tools de file atapi.sys blokkeert en daardoor kun je de IDE channels niet installeren.

Op http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/portal/viewtopic.php?t=2913 staat een (tijdelijke) oplossing:

if you just want to replace/check the atapi.sys file you could use Process Explorer from www.sysinternals.com to close the handle to that file (if the file is just locked to prevent access).

Ik post dit bericht even zodat anderen zich later niet scheel hoeven te zoeken naar een oplossing. Wellicht iets voor in de FAQ? (Hint

Inmiddels heeft Daemon Tools een nieuwe versie uitgebracht, die het probleem verhelpt.
