Charlie by Nokia – another one-megapixel smartphone
Throughout this year Nokia would introduce some 16 new devices to the European market. Step by step we share with you the info on novelties we’ve got. Unfortunately reviews on such devices will appear sooner than that on already announced Nokia 7610, 5140, as at the moment there are no qualified reviews on the latter freely available. So far, we offer you early photos of the device and later write about it in details.
In September there would be released several smartphones by Nokia – now we can introduce one of them. It comes under the code name Charlie NPI5 and differs from existing smartphones (for example, Nokia 6600) in the support of UMTS networking and in 1.3-megapixel camera. The current version (build 3 and lower) carries 1-megapixel matrix, developers promise that this defect would be eliminated in June following the release of the new version. As for the quality of photos it can be compared with that of Nokia 7610, nothing more to notice. The built-in flash, being just a fashion feature, doesn’t improve the quality.
The battery is the same as in Nokia 6600 (BL-5C), the same for the operating system. In all the model represents a constructive improvement of Nokia 7610. Almost forgot to mention the hot change of MMC-cards. The smartphone supports this solution for cards intended for dual-voltage. The official list of the cards supported will be wider, if earlier the maker claimed up to 128 MB of memory for the steady work, so now the device could “read” cards featuring up to 256 MB.
With the intended price of 500 Euro the device will be another niche one from image solutions. Expect the official announcement of the model in the mid summer. For business users the company has prepared other smartphone with similar functions, but in different shell. Read about it on our site very soon.
