hibernation hetzelfde als standby?

is hibernation nou hetzelfde als standby?

Want ik kwam net tot de ondekking dat als ik nu op standby klik dat mijn pc helemaal uit gaat
geen geluid geen voeding die aanblijft niks!
en als ik dan weer op de powerknop druk zit ik binnen 2-3 sec. op het bureau-blad

Hoe kan dit vraag ik me af want bij mijn vorige pc zette ik em op standby en toen ging alles uit behalve de voeding

Ook kan ik nu in de bios aanvinken om via de muis te kunnen opstarten door op de rechter of linker muis button te klikken.

echt beter!!!

Maar een nadeel als ik dus bezig ben en ik wil bijvoorbeeld de volgende dag verder,
moet ik geen stroom storing krijgen in de tussen tijd want dan ben ik dus wel alles mooi kwijt!

Ik vind dit wel lachuh maar is dit normaal in XP dat ik dus gewoon standby klik dat het hele systeem uit gaat?

Choosing between Suspend, Standby and Hibernate mode

Windows XP offers three power-saving modes where a computer user can conserve energy without having to shut the computer down completely. It is inconvenient and time consuming to shut down the computer every time you are away from it, and it is a great enhancement to have several power saving modes to choose from.
Standby/Suspend Put the computer on standby when it is idle. While on standby, your entire computer switches to a low-power state where devices, such as the monitor and hard disks, turn off and your computer uses less power. When you want to use the computer again, it comes out of standby quickly, and your desktop is restored exactly as you left it. Standby is particularly useful for conserving battery power in portable computers. Because Standby does not save your desktop state to disk, a power failure while on Standby can cause you to lose unsaved information.

Hibernation Put your computer in hibernation when you want to keep your place where you were working, but need to power down the computer. The hibernate feature saves everything in memory on disk, turns off your monitor and hard disk, and then turns off your computer. When you restart your computer, your desktop is restored exactly as you left it. It takes longer to bring your computer out of hibernation than out of standby.

Typically, you turn off your monitor or hard disk for a short period to conserve power. If you plan to be away from your computer for a while, you put your computer on standby, which puts your entire system in a low-power state.

Put your computer in hibernation when you will be away from the computer for an extended time or overnight. When you restart the computer, your desktop is restored exactly as you left it.

To use Windows Power Options, you must have a computer that is set up to support these features. For more information, see the documentation that came with your computer.

To put a computer in Standby/Suspend or Hibernate mode:

1. Right-click on a blank area of the desktop and click Properties. The Display Properties window will appear.

2. Select the Screen Saver tab and click on the Power Button. The Power Options Properties window should appear.


3. Select the Hibernate tab and make sure the Enable Hibernation checkbox has a check in it. Click the OK button.



Click on the Start button and choose Turn Off Computer. Select your choice of Standby, Turn Off, or Restart.
If you want to go into Hibernate mode, just hold down on your Shift key and Standby will turn into Hibernate. (Make sure you hold down on Shift when you click on Hibernate.)

En als je een laptop hebt en je bent op reis dan kun je beter hibernate gebruiken, omdat dan je laptop stroomloos komt te staan. Bij standby gebeurd dit niet. (zie post hierboven )

En vervolgens worden er maar twee uitgelegd: suspend/stand by (want blijkbaar zijn ze hetzelfde) en hibernate. Huh?

Maar goed, het verschil tussen suspend en hibernate is dus dat je bij hibernate de stekker uit het stopcontact kunt trekken zonder je data te verliezen en bij suspend niet. Zie Maasluip in "Hoeveel stroom verbruikt een pc wanneer ..." voor een overzichtje van stroomverbruik bij de verschillende modes.

Ha! Dan zie ik de volgende lawsuit van Microsoft tegen Linux, Lindows en wat er al niet meer is al aankomen.

heb nu ff via de "slaapstand" (SHIFT-standby wordt slaapstand) de pc afgesloten maar dan duurt het wel gewoon lang kan ik net zo goed opnieuw opstarten

gewoon standby is veel sneller

heb hier geen laptop he maar gewoon een pc die helemaal uitgaat als ik op standby klik

standby gaat de machine in slaapstand maar wordt huidig werk niet opgeslagen op harde schijf (dus als stroom weg is is je werk weg)

hybernate wordt je huidige desktop en alle openstaande programma's op schijf weggeschreven in een speciale file en bij opstarten wordt deze file weer geladen.

Let wel soms raakt die file corrupt en moet je deze verwijderen (hybernation uitschakelen file verwijderen hybernation weer inschakelen).
