[Suse 9.0] instalatie probleem

ik heb gister suse 9.0 gedownload van de nederlandse ftp. daarbij heb ik gewoon de hele map 9.0 binnen gehaald. vervolgens heb ik de iso gebrand (22mb vond ik wel al weinig) en daarna vanuit daar geboot. probleem is dan dat hij wel het welkom scherm enz laat zien maar als je dan wil gaan instaleren zegt hij dat niet de juiste cd aanwezig is

dan maar handmatig... taal instellen enz en dan setup starten maar dan wil hij weten vanuit waar hij moet mounten

vanalles geprobeerd maar het lukt me niet
-de cd wil hij niet (is niet juist volgens hem)
-ik heb alles op een partitie van 20GB staan die I heet (linux als titel) ook dat wil hij niet zo openen en ik weet ook niet naar welk bestand ik hem moet sturen dus....
HELP!!!

-ik heb windows xp op de c staan
-een schijf die H heet staan mijn data op
en op die schijf is dan nog weer een partitie I waar de instalatie bestanden in staan

Probeer eens een FTP install te doen vanaf xs4all bijvoorbeeld.

Wat jij hebt gedownload is zeker niet een complete installatie-ISO.

Probeer het hier eens, en lees vooraf het bestand README.FTP.

Is het niet de FTP installatie CD? SuSE heeft dat wel, dus het zou kunnen... trouwens, zo te horen (nou ja, lezen..) heb je nog wat basic device kennis nodig Je schijven in Linux heten niet bepaald C of H of iets dergelijks. Eerder /dev/hda, /dev/hdb en /dev/hdc etc.

maar hoe voer ik die instalatie vanaf een ftp dan uit?

ik moet idd nog veel leren van linux maar daarom wil ik het juist ook hebben zodat ik dat ook onder de knie krijg en dit is dus al mijn eerste les

Lezen:

This SuSE Linux 9.0 installation tree is suitable for installation via ftp,
http, nfs, smb or hard disk.


System requirements

You need at least 96MB main memory. To install on a machine with less
memory a (linux) swap partition is necessary.


Preparation

o booting from CD

Download the iso image boot/boot.iso and burn a CD with it.

o booting from floppy

Download the floppy disk image boot/bootdisk as well as the module disk
image files you need (at least boot/modules1 and likely the network
modules from boot/modules3).

Write the images to floppy disks using the 'dd' command:

dd if=[path_to_image] of=/dev/fd0 bs=36b

On non-linux systems, use the rawrite utility from the dosutils/rawrite
directory (rawrite.exe).

Installation

Boot from CD/floppy and at the bootpromt enter the installation source:

linux install=ftp://ftp_server/directory

Remember to substitute 'ftp_server' and 'directory' with the appropriate
values (e.g. install=ftp://[IP-ADDRESS]/pub/suse/i386/9.0 if you're
installing from the SuSE ftp server).

Alternatively, choose 'manual installation' and configure the network in
the installation program.


Preparing your own installation server

Just copy the whole installation tree to your local disk and make it
available via network.

"Package foo.rpm does not exist" it most likely means that
a) The ftp/http server you are using is not accepting new
connections.
b) You've misconfigured the local network or proxy settings

we can't fix your network and/or have no control over how busy the
ftp servers are.

Nog meer informatie staat in de FAQ, FAQ Non-Windows Operating Systems - update: 28/09/2003 . Tevens is het handig de installatiehandleiding van een distro te volgen en niet blind wat gaan downloaden en proberen om er achter te komen dat het niet werkt
Omdat we volgens NOS policy - updated 01/04/03 wat dingen verwachten waar jouw post niet helemaal aan voldoet, doe ik deze dicht. Je vraag 'hoe voer ik een installatie (dubbel-l) vanaf een ftp uit?' is bijvoorbeeld te beantwoorden door op de site van suse te kijken bij de documentatie, succes!
