Dit liedje schijn ik te zoeken. Dat wil zeggen, ik ken de melody, maar niet de tekst/titel. Volgens een vriend is het een marsliedje uit de burgeroorlog in de VS. Hij zit in een van de diehard-films, maar het is me nog niet gelukt daar een songoverzicht van te vinden. Wie weet of hij op de cd met filmuziek van de betreffende film staat? En wie heeft er een mp3 van een oude uitvoering van deze song (zou toch inmiddels rechtenvrij moeten zijn)?

Ziet er goed uit. Nu nog een test-mp3 vinden voordat ik hem koop: heb al twee keer misgeschoten, a hfl. 40 per stuk.

Het is een "traditional" song. The Clash (Beste Engelse Punk Band ooit) heeft hier een cover van gedaan op hun Give 'Em Enough Rope. En daar heet het nummer English Civil War.

De tekst is ook aangepast denk ik, het begint namelijk met :
When Johnny comes marching home again, hurray hurray
He's coming by bus or underground, hurray
The woman's eye will shed a tear
To see his face so beaten in fear
And it's all around the corner, in the English civil War.

Een originele uitvoering is wel te vinden op de gemiddelde soundtrack van Civil War films, en er zijn zelfs verzamelcd's met muziek uit de Civil War. FF bij Amazon of zo kijken en "Civil War" intikken. Good luck.

De duitse Amazon heeft hem niet, maar de amerikaanse wel (drie versies, waarvan minstens een bar slecht (via een sample gehoord). Bedankt voor de moeite, ik zal hem met iemand mee laten bestellen (heb geen creditcard).
Ik ben ook erg benieuwd naar de versie van the Clash. Zou je me daar een mp3 van kunnen mailen, desnoods alleen een minuut uit het midden, zodat ik weet of het wat is.
