NAPA PA28 (128MB) MP3 PLAYER MINI-REVIEW
BY:MoRpHeUs:www.morpheusenwoofer.tk or mailto:rogervaessen@zonnet.nl
PROLOGUE:
Welcome, this is the mini-review of the NAPA PA28 (128MB version). I've bought this player jesterday at some shop in holland (not important
) for the reaseonable price of €89,-, (euro's). Lowest price on the internet was; €110,-. (euro's) I've searched for some reviews of this player, whitout results, so I decided to make one by myself
Have fun! }
1.The beginning
And here, ladies and gentleman: the player *applause**hehe :)…*

So we open up the box, and this is what we see:

Contents:
- Quick start guide
- Adapter
- USB cable
- Headphone
- Manual CDROM
- Warranty Card
- plastic packing materials
- o yes, the player of course.
2.Turning on...
First thing that we trie, is to turn the player on.
The ON,PLAY button is a little bit small I think.
JOG DAIL function (REW, FFWD) is a little hard in the beginning.

3.Music on the player
The player is turned on, so we can start transferring some music to the player.
Warning: Player needs before its first use, a full charge of 24 hours!!!, normal charge time is by the way: +/- 8 hours, and then you can use it for about 20 hours (theoretically).
Practically, I don't know yet if it the battery lasts long, but charging 10mins. results in a really long playing time!, so...…
Ok, Now It's time to plug in the USB cable in the USB port. Right now, we already can drag&drop the music files that we want, to the player, Windows XP recognizes the player as a removeable drive (you can put data on it too). I downloaded 128 MB to the player in 5 minutes (that's fast for USB 1.1).
When you're downloading files to your player, it displayes: WRITING...
4.Listening
So, now we've downloaded some MP3's and WMA's to the player.
The included headphone is really bad.
Because of that, we use a SONY headphone in this case. The sound quality is better already. But, we're still not really satisfied. After a little "playing" with some equalizer presets, we got even better sound!

We can name the sound quality good/very good right now.
It has good high tone sounds and a nice bass. Sometimes, when the high tones get a litte too high, the quality can get a litte bad maybe. But maybe that's just a headphone problem. That's why I should look for a better brand headphone, like: SENNHEISER or SONY.
WMA files have sometimes weird noise at the beginning of the file but I think that's a converting problem.
5.Recording
This player has also a voice recording fucntion, which can record 8 hours of speech.
Sound quality of the recorded voice is also nice (for recording voices).
Built in microphone, records good. An optional External microphone, can be plugged in at the MIC IN port on the player.

6.Other Functions
There's also a LOCK function on the player, so there's no way of pressing a buttung while jogging etc.
The player can also be charged from the USB port (also a nice option). There is also an adapter shipped with it, for charging it without pc.

The LOCK button on the right side (you have too look good...:p).
7.Firmware
We've also upgraded the firmware of the player, which adds a nice function.
We can put our own opening screens on the player with the upgrade, looks really nice!. We can make a short or even long animation too, if we want to.
We want to put this picture on the player:
We download the program to convert the jpeg image, to a -for the player redeable- file. After that, we can transfer it to the player.

The result:

With Backlight ON:

8.Conclusion:
For it's price, this is really the best memory based-player that you can get at the moment. The sound is good to really good, but I think that a better headphone is required for getting the most out of your player. 128MB memory is enough for in the train, bus or at jogging. For myself, I convert the files to WMA format, with a quality of 96Kbps, with that the files are about 2,5-3 MB wich fills up the player really good. Recording function is a very nice option too. Display is good readeable and the logo option is a really cool function too (firmware upgrade required).
PUNT: (PRICE/QUALITY):
9,1
PROS.:
soud quality is very good after tuning the equalizer a bit.
It's small (and looks good, I think)
Firmware upgreadable
Plays WMA files too
Long playing time with built-in accu.
Clear and good readeable display.
Cheap
(re)charging with USB
CONS:
Buttons are a little to small and placed very close to eachother.
Shipped headphone has bad quality
Built in Memory is not expendeable
Sorry for my bad english folks,
