I do not see his benchmark scores on here. I think you left out all all the charts.

To pick up on our previous conversation. You know I had concerns about a writer for an ATI fan site being unbiased in reviews. Tell me if you think I am being a cry baby. I am having a hard time with the scores of these cards.

ASUS RADEON 9600XT running 500/300 core/memory running ATI 3.9 Catalyst drivers (latest on ASUS's site is 3.7 which is too old for my uses.
Should he use the driver Asus recommends and offers its customers. That driver is 3.7. If your mom bought an Asus card, she would go get the driver from Asus' site. sound like poor support to me....but they get a 10 for that. Having to go get a different driver on the ATI site sounds like a ding on Ease of use, but they get a 10 for that, too

He played 3 games on the 9600XT. HomeWorld was choppy, he called it a "hiccup". Call of Duty did not play with out a hot fix. KOTOR was fine. 1 out of 3 worked out of the box. They get a 10 for compatibility? Not working in Call of Duty does not cost them anything? ASus has Cat 3.7 posted? Nothing deducted?

"Otherwise playing the game on a 9600XT was great" ok, so other than the annoying crashes to the desktop in the middle of the game, it was great. sounds fun.

What is a hot fix? Is that hot fix in 3.9 driver? Does that cost you compatibility, support or ease of use points? All 3 are a perfect 10 for ATI.......

Performance: Our card was clearly faster in Homeworld according to his write up, even though he made lots of excuses for the Radeon card and forgive it for forcing him to drop in resolution. I know the 5700 is faster than the 9600XT. In our launch reviews, 5700 ultra won 77% of the benchmarks run by 11 different websites. That is a clear winner. Yet we both get a 7?

BFG offers lifetime support and toll free calls. He raves about it 2 times. bitches about Asus' drivers. How do they handle support calls??? BFG gets the same score at the Radeon card for support?

So you have to go find a "hot fix" to play your game that still crashes to the desktop....they get a 10 for set-up and compatibility?

The drivers on ASUS's website indicate that they're based upon Catalyst 3.7s (7.93) which was over 3 months ago. Thankfully, ATI's driver team is up to the challenge. The latest ATI drivers are based upon 3.9 drivers (7.95 based) (actually there's a 3.10 beta to fix issues with Call Of Duty with the 3.9s that I mentioned in the review). The other thing is availability. At the moment it's hard to find a ASUS 9600XT."

Does that get them points deducted for compatibly or Support. Apparently neither because they are both 10s. Does not sound like a 10 ease of use score to me.

Based on the write-up the scores below are more realistic.

Nog een opmerking van de schrijver (Ben6)

Not only did he work up the new scores, but he's threatened my editor with "removing all support Nvidia has given them". His exact words "You think you haven't received support before, you ain't seen nothing yet" . I take what I said about BFG back, btw. Nvidia insists they have no "Black List" .

Sad but funny story, Nancy of PNY called my editor and told him that Brian Burke told her not to send a product for review. So apparently, Nvidia is exerting some control over what products their partners send out too.

Wat vinden jullie nu van zo'n aktie van nVidia?

Triest, ronduit zwaar triest

Als je op zo'n manier je kaart in een beter daglicht wil zetten ben je gewoon lame bezig.
Iedereen heeft recht op vrijheid van meningsuiting (met een paar beperkingen, ok) dus dan ook nog gaan dreigen kan gewoon niet.

Inderdaad een diep, diep trieste actie. Van de andere kant mag je toch verwachten dat een review in ieder geval objectief is...

Je mag het verwachten van een reviewer dat hij objectief is (praktijk is echter anders), maar als je zo benaderd word door nVidia als je hun kaart iets te negatief afschilderd, kan ik mee voorstellen dat sommige hardware site bezwijken onder de druk, en de geforce een extra plusje geven hier en daar.

Deze review ziet er trouwens neutraal uit, niks ATI biased.

Ben ik de enige die die mail totaal niet stoort? Ik kan me goed voorstellen dat je als fabrikant zwaar pissed bent als je dit soort reviews leest. Bovendien is de mail prima onderbouwt, dus ik zou de schrijver van de mail niets kwalijk nemen. Hij heeft gewoon gelijk imo.

Aan de andere kant is het wel een beetje raar DAT ze dit soort mails sturen. Ik zou zoiets hebben van: Rrrrrrite, what ever - afhankelijk van de "grootte" van de site.

Daarnaast vind ik het triest dat je dit soort mails openbaar maakt. Dit valt imo gewoon onder moraal en respect voor de fabrikant. Zo maken ze NVidia weer zwart.

De dictatuur die Amerika is voor de rest van de wereld is Nvidia voor deze branche.
Ik spuug op het graf van Nvidia door herhaaldelijke vormen van dit soort gedrag.
Hun chips kunnen op dit moment voor geen meter op tegen die van Ati qua snelheid en beeldkwaliteit en ondanks dat ik achtereenvolgens een TNT2, Geforce256-DDR, Geforce2 GTS, Geforce3 Vanilla en een Geforce4 Ti4600 heb gehad met volle tevredenheid zien ze me nooit meer terug bij Nvidia. Niet vanwege het feit dat ik in April een Ati Radeon 9800 Pro heb gekocht die in alle opzichten de vloer aanveegt met Nvidia maar door dit soort gedrag.

Ik vind de mail ook prima onderbouwd, maar dat dreigen hoeft dan ook wel weer niet. Nu lijkt het net of je betere scores EIST ipv dat je een betere vergelijking maakt.

De punten zijn echter heel valide. Ben met mijn radeon ook 20 minuten bezig geweest om CoD aan de gang te krijgen en ik wil mezelf toch best wel een gevorderde gebruiker noemen. Bovendien zijn de verschillen tussen cat 3.7 en 3.9 idd redelijk wezenlijk. Zelf gebruik ik ook nog steeds 3.7 omdat een aantal games gewoon niet volledig werken met 3.8/3.9 . Kortom jammer van het einde van de brief
