IBM hdd installatie tool

Hallo allemaal,

Weet misschien iemand van jullie of er voor IBM schijven soort gelijke tooltjes te downloaden zijn als voor Maxtor (Maxblast) en Western Digital. Ik ben al heftig aan het zoeken geweest op de IBM site en die van Hitachi, echter zonder resultaat.

NB: gewoon voor het partitioneren, hdd is niet defect!

Ik snap heeel goed wanneer ik hier IBM hdd roep iemand denkt dat deze stuk is, echter ik heb het over nieuwe IBM schijven partitioneren...

Vertel eerst wat voor schijf je precies hebt, aangezien ik genoeg IBM schijven heb gezien waar het prima ging met partition magic of andere proggies (ook standaard Xp gebeuren)

Het type hdd is hier niet bepaald van belang, ik heb het hier namelijk over look-a-like Maxblast tools (bootable). Dit geeft denk ik ook een verklaring over waarom PM e.d. windows-based programma's niet zullen voldoen aan de eisen

Feature Tool (v1.90)
The Feature Tool allows you to control some of the features of our Deskstar and Travelstar high performance ATA hard disk drives and supports 48-bit addressing, so it will work with the new large capacity drives. This version adds support for our latest drives. The Feature Tool allows you to:
Enable or disable the read-ahead or write cache.
Change the drive Automatic Acoustic Management settings to the:
Lowest acoustic emanation setting (Quiet Seek Mode), or
Maximum performance level (Normal Seek Mode).
Change the predefined capacity of the drive. This option can be used in situations where there is a BIOS limitation and the drive is not recognized. See the Users Guide for specific details.
Switch the Ultra DMA mode (replaces the IBMATASW utility)
Change Advanced Power Mode - allows you to change between the lowest power consumption and the highest power consumption (maximum performance level).
Show Drive Temperature - shows the current drive temperature in Celsius and Farenheit.

Met die feature-tool kan je de capaciteit van een IBM-schijf aanpassen. Ik zoek zoiets voor een Maxtor die door de oem-leverancier van die schijf gemanipuleert is.
Weet iemand een soortgelijk prg, maar dan voor Maxtor? Maxblast doet dit niet.

@maui71; allereerst bedankt voor de moeite, alleen had ik dit verhaal al op de Hitachi site gezien.

Zou wellicht zoiets kunnen zijn, maar zeker niet bootable.. en zoals vermeld niet meer verkrijgbaar.

Zover ik weet kan MaxBlast niet partitioneren, en kan je bij IBM/Hitachi ipv DiskManager nu dus die Feature Tool gebruiken. De drive meldt zich dan bij het BIOS aan als een normale herkenbare drive, echter via je OS zal je 'm waarschijnlijk op ware grootte zien.
(kan helaas niet uit ervaring spreken)

Zeker weten dat ie dat wel kan.
Spreek wel uit ervaring.
Kan ook partities kopieeren, stukken langzamer dan Ghost,maar t kan.
En je kunt helemaal zelf uitmaken hoe groot je eventueel de parities wilt hebben, en of je ntfs,fat 16,fat 32, Win 98 t/m Xp wilt hebben.

Prima, dan kan ie het wel, maar schiet je weinig mee op als je een IBM drive hebt zoals TS

Had vandaag tijd om die HDD Feature tool v1.90 van Hitachi (voor IBM dus..) uit te proberen. Dit is puur voor instellingen van de hdd, niet voor het indelen/partitioneren. Voor de instellingen lijkt het me trouwens wél ideaal, voor diegene die daar naar opzoek zijn (denk aan acoustic mode e.d.)
Maar goed indelen lukt niet met deze tool, iemand meer suggesties?

De Disk Manager 2000 v9.57 staat wel nog op de site. Ze hebben alleen de links verwijderd. Zo stond het oorspronkelijk op de IBM Pagina:

Windows XP / 2000 users: Chances are, you won't need to use Disk Manager. Since Windows 2000 and Windows XP scan the bus itself, ignoring the BIOS, your Operating System should see the full size of the drive. If you are installing a drive on system using the Award 4.5x BIOS, the you should still follow the Ontrack Data International solution for 33GB BIOS lock-up advice to avoid having your hard drive hang during the drive detection stage of system startup (boot).
