Can someone help me with a SCSI scanner problem?

I've got a Artec AT3 SCSI scanner and a SCSI harddisk on the same SCSI contoller (future domain). The harddisk is working but the scanner isn't.

The scanner is detected when i start the computer, it is initialised in windows also but when i try to scan, I get a message "can't load driver or no scanner found".

Can someone help getting my scanner to work?

First thing to try on 99% of all hardware problems: reinstall drivers, or try other drivers (if available).
I don't know much about SCSI, but since your HD is working and your scanner is detected and listed, I think it's not a specific SCSI problem. It probably has more to do with the scanner itself or the drivers than it has to do with the SCSI interface.

Did you check you cable as well?
A bad (badly shielded) SCSI-cable can also be a problem.
And is your termination at the scanner OK?

A few months back, i had the same problem with my artec at6. i reinstalled the drivers, no luck. i then started pulling things from my system, didn't help either. next i borrowed a scsi-cable from a friend, nope. the only thing that did the trick was a fresh installation of win98. i still don't know what exactly caused the problem, but my guess is that after a lockup while scanning, it messed up the register of windows. you should try reinstaling the drivers first, but my guess is that you end up reinstalling windows. Please don't forget to backup your data first! Goodluck.

Always turn the scanner on before the computer,(so that the computer sees the scanner as it boots and configures it)
and the reverse for powering down.Still no luck? Then uninstall everything, soft- + hardware and re-install the software
before inserting the SCSI card.In most cases it's all a matter of the correct sequence.
