Mijn ervaring is dat een mislukte firmware flash bij een 3Com switch vrijwel altijd herstelbaar is. De oplossing voor jouw probleem staat trouwens duidelijk vermeld in de knowledge base van 3Com:
How to upgrade the CoreBuilder 7000 software using the serial port
Problem: How to upgrade software using the serial port
Problem: How to recover from a bad sofware download
Fact: CoreBuilder 7000
Problem: Error: "Communication failure "
Problem: CoreBuilder 7000 reboots consistently
Fix: Downloading software through the serial port instructions:
1. Connect the PC/Terminal to the Terminal port of the switch engine to be upgraded
2. Log into the CoreBuilder 7000 main menu with admin privileges
3. From the main menu, choose (1)SYS\(3)LOA\(3)LCL> >
4. Choose Load Mode 1
5. The CoreBuilder 7000 will not appear to do anything at this point. Power cycle the
CoreBuilder 7000 to proceed
6. Move the serial connection from the Terminal port to the Service port of the switch engine
7. Wait approximately 3 minutes after the power cycle
8. Close the Terminal Emulation application (as this will probably use the same serial port if you will
be running from the DOS prompt)
9. Go to the DOS prompt
10. When executed, the CB7k3_50.EXE file will create a directory on the pc =
CP7000.350\RS232
11. CD to CP7000.350\RS232
12. Type: down_all com1 115200 (This will start the download.)
Ik denk dat het bovenstaande bij jou niet meer lukt en je dus verbinding moet maken via de service poort:
If the above fails, or if you need to restart the process:
1. Attach to the Service Port
2. Reboot the CoreBuilder 7000
3. As soon as text appears on the screen, hit Shift-U (for Microsoft Windows 95, make sure you
have selected VT1000, not ANSI)
4. When the escape sequence completes, close the terminal session and go to the DOS prompt
5. CD to CP7000.350\RS232
6. Type: down_all com1 115200
