Novel 3.11 partitie corrupt.

ik heb hier een pctje staan met een wd 200 mb schijfje met een fat12 partitie van 5 mb met dos 5.x er op + novell 3.11. het ding wordt gebruikt als fileserver (denk ik, ik krijg dit ding van een collega toegeschoven met een vage omschrijving)

feit is in ieder geval dat er ook nog een partitie is van 190 mb ofzo die unknown en corrupted is. (ghost of windows zien niets, ontrack easyrecovery ziet een unknown partitie)

eigenlijk is mijn vraag vrij simpel: wat voor file system gebruikte novell 3.11? je kunt namelijk met easyrecovery kiezen tussen een aantal soorten fat en ntfs, en nog eens raw. raw is voor als je echt in de shit zit, er wordt weinig van de structuur overgelaten, dus dat schiet niet echt op.

als ik nou weet wat die partitie naar alle waarschijnlijkheid is dan kan ik op zoek naar een specifieke tool voor dat filesystem.

novell blijkt zelf ook repair tools te hebben, maar dan moet novell wel een driveletter kunnen zien (o.a. vrepair) en dat ziet hij dus niet.

weet iemand wat voor filesysteem novell 3.11 normaal gesproken voor data gebruikt?

The NetWare 3.11 filesystem supports a number of name spaces that can coexist on one disk volume, including DOS, NFS, MAC, HPFS and FTAM. In order to properly back up a file, any backup application needs to determine the name space under which a file was created. Novell's SMS architecture, which Legato uses, is no exception, and makes a system call to gather this information about each file it backs up. Any complete backup application, whether or not it uses SMS, will need to make this system call to gather this important information about the file.

Unfortunately, there is a limitation in the NetWare 3.11 filesystem which in rare cases causes this system call to fail. Some backup applications (which do not use SMS) do not make this system call, so the limitation may not be apparent, but the inconsistency will still be present in your filesystem.

There is a version of VREPAIR that fixes the problem. It is available from NetWire as part of patch pt311d.zip (or higher). Or, if you update your NetWorker software to Release 2.11, the patch is included in the installation diskettes.

We have not seen any serious problems related to the error message described in this bulletin, although it is not clear if the file causing this error message is being backed up properly.
