Waar is Namezero mee bezig?

Ik heb al ruim drie jaar een domeinnaam bij Namezero. Eerst gratis en toen moest ik gaan betalen voor een aantal jaren. Dit bedrag was overigens minimaal. Vorige week stond in mijn namezero account dat deze af zou lopen in 2004. Ik maak bij Namezero gebruik van 'url forwarding'. Volgens mij gaat het erop lijken dat ik weer bij moet gaan betalen anders zal ik mijn domeinnaam gaan verliezen. Kan Namezero dit zomaar maken? En is het straks niet zo dat ik over een paar maanden weer bij moet gaan betalen?

Q. Why do I have to transfer my domain name? I thought you were my registrar.

A. Your domain was initially purchased through NameZero when we had a reseller
partnership with Network Solutions, Inc. We have since obtained our own ICANN
accreditation and no longer have the ability to renew domain names through our
wholesale agreement with Network Solutions, Inc. In order to renew your domain
we need to transfer the registration to NameZero officially.

Q. What happens if I do not transfer my domain name?

A. Your NameZero services such as Webmail, SiteBuilder, and URL forwarding will
no longer function. You will also have to pay a much higher annual rate
(currently $35) to maintain the registration of your domain.

NameZero werkt toch al tijden met dit principe? Eerst mensen gratis binden en vervolgens bij de ballen grijpen, want je wil je gekoesterde url niet kwijt. Hoe sneller je gewoon overstapt naar een goedkope echte hoster, hoe beter (als je url je echt wat waard is). Dat voorkomt dit soort opgelegde prijsverhogingen en ergenissen.

Maar één van de vuile truukjes van NameZero was ook het niet vrijgeven van de domeinnaam.

Dit was de afspraak en dit staat overigens nog steeds zo in mijn account.

Ik zie trouwens in mijn accountscherm dat Namezero, de hele lay-out voor de zoveelste keer aan het veranderen is en dat sommige knoppen niet werken:

'Sorry, the system is currently down due to maintenance and upgrades. The system should be up shortly.'


Overzetten van mijn domeinnaam naar een andere hoster is ook geen optie ofwel? Dit duurt toch erg lang en is vrij prijzig, toch?

Wat heeft dit met PNS te maken

Dit is gewoon reclame voor hun eigen producten. Jij hebt een 'contract' tot een bepaalde tijd, en ze bieden ja nu wat korting aan als je nu renewd.

Als je NU voor 1 jaar bijbetaald, komt dat jaar bovenop je huidige datum.
Lezen is moeilijk ...
