Find File Format/Extensions
Add "Open With..." to right click menus on files
by the following method. (This allows you to easily
use a different program from the default as needed
or change that default association.) This "Open with..."
will be available for both known and unknown file
extensions, unlike the default.
Start - Run - Regedit
Highlight :
HKEY CLASSES ROOT\Unknown\shell\openas\command
Double Click the "Default" in right pane - press control C to copy
to clipboard - then click cancel.
(C:\WINDOWS\rundll32.exe shell32.dll,OpenAs RunDLL %1
is mine)
HKEY CLASSES ROOT\*
Right click on that - New Key - name it Shell
Right click on Shell - New Key - openas
Right click on openas - New Key - command
Double click Default in right pane...... in value data line
CTRL + V to paste the previously copied line in........
(C:\WINDOWS\rundll32.exe shell32.dll,OpenAs RunDLL %1
is mine)
Now you have a "Open with" on your right click menu which
allows you to easily change or add file associations. Of
course you can use the "Open with" to open a file with the
non-default program without changing the default......
(In some instances where you previously had a "Open with"
you might have two entries - other is default for unknown
file types - .... both do same so just ignore.)
