Sorry ik had ff geen tijd om m'n post in het nederlands te zetten. Daarom heb ik ff copy paste gebruikt. Mijn excuses daarvoor.

Hi,

I've got 2 NIC's (Realtek's) installed on the KA7 one in PCI slot 4 and one in 5. When I test them in pure dos environment with EZPCI they pass all the tests, but when I run the test in windows 98 SE I'll get a spontanious reset (or it keeps saying testing, but doesn't do anything and i must hit the reset button), when it's testing IRQ line the other day it stopped on the fourth test and kept saying testing on that one and again my only option was to hit the reset button (this happens with both the cards). Also I think these problems cause that my data transfer speed is really low cos when I transfer a file of say 5 mb from the other PC to mine it takes 5 seconds, but when I transfer it from my PC to the other it takes 10-15 minutes!!!
Also I formatted my HD in the hope it would fix the problem, but it didn't help :(
I hope that somebody can help me with this problem cos everybody I know couldn't help me with this problem.

Thanks in advance.

try other pci slots for your nic's. had a similar problem here, was solved by doing the above.

Klinkt als een hardwareprobleem... Probeer andere NIC's.

This is how the IRQ's are shared on the KA7:
- AGP and PCI-1 shared
- PCI-2 and PCI-3 shared
- PCI-4, PCI-6 and USB controllers shared
- PCI-5 has it's own

I have a CL GeForce DDR in AGP nothing in PCI-1 cos that could cause troubles with the video card.
My CL SB Live 1024 is in PCI-2.
One NIC in PCI-4.
One NIC in PCI-5.

A few days ago I had a cable modem that was connected with the com-port so I had just one NIC that was in PCI-4, but I got the same problems then. I got a different cable modem now that's connected with another NIC. So I moved the original NIC to PCI-5 and the new one in PCI-4. But both cards have problems when testing with EZPCI in windows. Data transfer is also low with the other PC. I can't test my other NIC of the data is slow cos my ISP has locked my cable modem to 6 kb/s :(
Also I have no USB devices connected.
I don't think it will help if I move the NIC's to different slots cos then they are shared with my video card and my sound card.

I use FreeNAS and Ubuntu

Every solution has a new problem
