Tja off-topic omdat teams niet echt mogelijk zijn (nog dan, je kan wel prutsen met zelfde mail adres en dan andere comp namen maar toch.

NFSNET heeft sinds 12 mei een RC1 van hun progje publiekelijk beschikbaar gesteld.

Release Candidate 1 (RC1) of the NFSNET client is now available for download. RC1 is the first version that has been made available to the general public without requiring a request to join the testing program. To download and install the NFSNET client, visit the join page and follow the instructions there.

Dus iedereen die hieraan wil meedoen kan nu dus volledig zijn gang gaan. De stats zijn best leuk te noemen. grafiekjes met totalen en persoonlijke grafiekjes ook.

Als je de client installeerd moet je hem wel goed afsluiten anders wordt het moeilijk om een nieuwe task te krijgen, aangezien ze automatisch script hebben welke controleerd of je client wel goed is afgesloten. Als dat niet het geval is heb je kans dat je een 'idle' task krijgt. Dus dat de client totaal niks doet (gebruikt dan ook geen cpu power natuurlijk)

Dus officiele manier van stoppen is:

You start the siever client with the command
nfsnetclient
and stop it by creating the file called stop.txt
in the NFSNET/processors/p0/ folder.

This procedure will ensure that client stops gracefully and submits its progress. Failure to stop gracefully will cause the server to assign demerit points and could cause you to be locked out if it occurs too often.

At each checkpoint the NFSNET Client will check for the existence of the stop.txt file. When it finds it, it will stop sieving and submit its results. Depending on the project settings, there are usually a few checkpoints every minute. However, it can require substantial time before the next checkpoint is reached, perhaps a number of minutes.

Remember to remove the stop.txt file before starting the NFSNET Client again.

Until that appeared, we knew of no non-trivial factors of 12^197-1. A more formal announcement will be made in the next day or two.

It is a pity that the penultimate factor had only 70 digits and not the hoped for 100-plus, but we will have another chance with the project now running.
