Why can't I enable AGP under WinXP/Win2000 with ALi M1647 platform ? or Why is it that my M1647's performance using Nvidia VGA card is poor?
Nvidia driver 27.XX ( and later version) will disable the M1647 AGP function on all Nvidia VGA card under WinXP and Win2000.
To solve this issue, please follow the procedure below:
1) If you are using TNT2 ,Geforce256, Geforce 2 GTS, Geforce 2 Ultra, and Geforce 2 MX (200/400)
Under WinXP and SP1, we recommend you use Windows Inbox VGA driver or Nvidia Detonator driver 23.11.
Under Win 2000 , we recommend you use Nvidia Detonator driver 23.11.
2) If you are using Geforce3, Geforce 4 and others which are not listed above, or if you really want to use new Nvidia Detonator drivers. You must add a key to enable AGP.

What is the present version of ALADDiN 5? What is the difference?
The production revision of ALADDiN 5 (M1541 & M1542) is rev. E, G & H. The differences between them are:
Rev. E: Internal Tag RAM disabled, needs to use external RAM on main board.
Rev. G: Internal Tag RAM OK, but Suspend-to RAM (a function for notebook) has some problems.
Rev. H: Fixed the Suspend-to RAM function.
Which ALi south bridge chips does not need to install ALi IDE driver?
All ALi-based notebook PC and ALi-based desktop PC using the following south bridge chips: 1543C-B1 and 1535D are compatible and works well with the Windows default IDE driver. Therefore, ALi recommend that you install the Windows IDE default driver. You may install the ALi IDE driver if problems occur upon installation of the Windows default IDE driver.
The latest ALi IDE driver says that it supports ATA66 & UDMA mode. Does that mean that the ALADDiN 5 chipset based motherboard will support an ATA66 hard disk? Is there any need for a BIOS upgrade?
Supporting the UDMA mode 4 (ATA66) does not only need driver/ BIOS, but also needs a H/W (Hardware) to support the function. At present, ALADDiN 5 chipset only support to UDMA33 mode. Which means the even if you install an ATA66 hard disk on the ALADDiN 5 chipset based motherboard, it will only work as an UDMA33 disk. The UDMA mode 4 specification is supported by ALi's new generation south bridge chips (M1543C B1, M1535/35D and later on chips).
Which ALADDiN chipset supports UDMA66?
With new generation south bridge chips, like M1543C-B1, M1535 and M1535D support UDMA66. Note: The formal name for UDMA66 or ATA66 is "UDMA mode 4"

en bij apparaatbeheer zegt hij dat er geen drivers geinstalleerd staan, dit is dus zeg maar een loop waar je niet uitkomt. Je kan geen drivers installeren omdat de kaart niet herkent wordt en volgens windows wordt de kaart niet herkent omdat de drivers niet geinstalleerd zijn.
