[debian] kernel voor 386 probleem

Hallo,

Ik ben bezig om een router te bouwen van een AMD80386sx-40Mhz met 4mb ram.
Nou had ik een 2.4.18 (of 19 weet nie zeker) kernel gebakken.

Nou had ik vergeten math emulation er bij in te compilen dus hij ging met booten moeilijk daar over doen. Nou heb ik er een gepakken precies het zelfde alleen met math emulation er bij en, en nu als ik boot komt er alleen te staan:

en na het laatste puntje reboot hij. :(

Een ander mobo/cpu is niet mogelijk omdat dit een erg klein mobo was en grootter past niet, ook heb ik geen 80387 liggen.

Wat kan ik nu proberen? (moet wel iptables ondersteunen.)

edit:

Ja hij stond wel op 386, vorige kernel deed ook goed op math emu na, maar nu met math-emu doet ie niets.

Je hebt bij de processorkeuze wel 386 opgegeven? Die staat standaard op iets anders en dan krijg je dit soort taferelen :).

I use FreeNAS and Ubuntu

Ik ben bang dat je kernel te groot is om te laden; aangezien je slechts 4mb hebt! kan je het eens proberen met een 2.2.x kernel die is iets minder zwaar

Kan je misschien je config ergens online zetten ofzo?

???? Volgens mij is dit juist de default... Althans wel bij mij, op me pas gedownloadde kernel2.4.20 dus.

Nou met make zImage krijg ik kernel to big.

Het is de bedoeling dat ALLES wat ik niet nodig heb uit de kernel moet, op een paar net drivers en iptables na.

Je hebt zowiezo al ext2 en reiserfs erin zitten, hier kun je beter een keuze maken voor 1 van de twee ipv ze allebei. Nog beter is Minix, die is pas erg zuinig met geheugen.

Maar als ik zo die config zie, dan moet je zelf nog maar een keer goed kijken wat er allemaal uit kan, ik zie bijvoorbeeld AGP support.. in een 386 :?

Oh en TCP/IP gebruikt ook aardig wat geheugen... edit: oh ja, je wou perse iptables erin, dus TCP/IP zal je ook wel nodig hebben :+

"too big", da's alleen zo als je van floppy wil starten. Tenzij je dat doet hoef je je van deze melding weinig aan te trekken.
Bij mijn weten staat de processor voor 2.4 kernels standaard ingesteld op Pentium-III. Die zul je toch echt in 486 moeten veranderen wil je iets werkbaars krijgen.

Ik heb de zImage van 2.4.18 geprobeert, maar nog steeds reboten.

Voor de rest een hele kale 2.4.10 kernel geprobeert -> vast
Een 2.5.* -> vast

Ik ga nu is een 2.2 proberen want dan maar ipchains :)

Maar ik snap nog steeds niet dat hij vast loopt DOOR die math emulation.

Ondersteunt 2.2 wel reiserfs?

En is er ook een ander fs dat bij een reboot niet zo ziet te zueren en een uur druk is met e2fschk ofzo?

Ik heb nu een hele kale 2.2 kernel gebakken met math emu en deze doet ook het zelfde, steeds een reboot :( .

Ben er wel achter dat het wel aan de kernel ligt en niet aan de hardware, want op een andere 386sx-16 doen de kernels het zelfde, reboten.

Het is een 386 Kernel met math emulation support :)

Maar is er niet iemand die een kernel heeft draaien die ipchains/iptables onderstuent op een 386SX ?
