Ik zit met het volgende probleem.
Zoals de topic titel al zegt, kan ik niet vanaf NT4.0 afdrukken naar een HP laserjet 1000.
Nu zullen degene die de printer kennen natuurlijk direct zeggen, maar Grolsch_man, de hp 1000 werkt met USB, en dat ondersteund NT4.0 niet.
Daar hebben deze personen VOLLEDIG gelijk in, en dat is dus de moeilijkheid, maar het gaat er dus niet om, dat de printer fysiek achter de NT4.0 machine moet.
De printer is ge-installeerd achter een win2k machine, en geshared, en dat werkt PERFECT.
Zowel lokaal, als andere win2k clients welke connecten naar die printer.
Nu dus het probleem, NT4.0 gebruikers kunnen deze printer NIET installeren, omdat er gewoon domweg geen driver is voor NT4.0 voor de HP laserjet 1000.
Dus ik heb HP gebeld, en die hebben een "work around" en wel de volgende.
Ik zie dat de job op de host machine in de wachtrij komt te staan, maar de print opdracht komt er niet uit, en de job verdwijnt ook vrij snel, zonder enige foutmelding.
Wat kan/moet ik nu nog doen?

Information
The HP LaserJet 1000 series printer was introduced as a printer
for a single individual in a small office/home office or a
corporate environment. However, sharing the printing
capabilities of the product with others in their workgroup
is often desired. While the product was not originally
designed for sharing, successful sharing of the print
capability in a peer-to-peer environment has been reported.
HP has not tested the product in a peer-to-peer network
environment. Although successful configuration and use in
this environment has been reported, Hewlett-Packard does not
offer support for the product in this environment. Printing
in this environment does not void Hewlett-Packard's warranty
or change Hewlett-Packard's support program for the product
directly connected to the machine.
Sharing requirements
* The HP LaserJet 1000 software must be installed and
functional on the computer directly connected to the
printer, before it can be shared.
* The host machine must be running Windows 98, Windows
ME, Windows 2000, or Windows XP.
* Printer sharing must be enabled in Windows before the
following steps can be completed on a client computer.
If a Sharing tab does not appear in the printer
properties, printer sharing is not enabled. Contact the
computer manufacturer or Microsoft for further
assistance on enabling printer sharing.
Sharing the printer from the host PC
1. Click Start, Settings, and Printers.
NOTE: In Windows XP normal view, click
Start and select Printers and
Faxes.
2. Right-click the HP LaserJet 1000 DOS product icon in
the Printers window.
3. Select Properties from the Menu.
4. Choose the Sharing tab in the HP LaserJet Properties.
5. Select Shared As.
6. Type a name for the printer in the Share Name box (for
example, Lobby LJ1000).
NOTE: If the printer name is longer than
12 characters, some network
computers may not be able to locate
the printer attached to the host
computer.
7. Click OK.
8. Close the Printers window.
Installing the printer on a client PC running Windows 95 or
Windows NT
Follow the steps below to install the LaserJet 6L driver using
the Windows Add Printer Wizard.
1. Double-click the Network Neighborhood icon on the
Windows desktop.
2. Locate the computer where the HP LaserJet 1000 is
directly connected.
3. Right-click the printer icon for the HP LaserJet 1000
and select Install or Connect from the menu.
4. Follow the prompts on the Add Printer Wizard until the
Select the Manufacturer or Printer screen appears.
5. Select the HP from the list of Manufacturers.
6. Select LaserJet 6L as the Printer.
NOTE: If the LaserJet 6L is not present
as a choice in the Printers list,
select a LaserJet 5L or LaserJet 4L
or download a LaserJet 6L driver
from the HP Web site
(http://www.hp.com/cposupport/swindexes/lj6l_swen.html).
7. Windows may prompt for the Windows 95/NT CD-ROM. If
so, insert the Windows 95/NT CD-ROM and click OK.
8. Finish the Add Printer Wizard.
9. Print a test page to verify functionality of the
printer.
