One of the many reasons a BIOS upgrade could fail, may be caused by a resource conflict (I/O, Memory address), timing in the PCI Bus or simply an interruption of some kind during the flash process.
It may be possible to revive the controller by attempting to re-flash the SCSI cards on another computer. Be sure there are " NO " SCSI device/s attached on the controller while performing the flash upgrade. The easiest way is to disconnect any and all interface cables attached to the controller while the system is turned off.
If another computer is not available, try disconnecting all devices attached to the controller and attempt to restore the previous BIOS that was on the controller, with the restore.bat file.
Disconnect all controllers inside the computer and leave the video card and the SCSI card as the only cards present in the system (this will assist in avoiding possible resource conflicts during the upgrade process).
- Attempt to re-flash the controller and see if it is successful. If it is still not successful then - Attempt to restore the previous BIOS to the controller and see if it is successful.
When powering up the system and the SCSI BIOS still does not post on your screen, then reboot the system again and start pressing " Ctrl + A " continuously after the memory count. Press both keys at the same time in increments of 2 seconds apart and despite what may be showing on the screen, keep on pressing it until boot process completes or the SCSISelect screen appears.
- If the SCSI Select BIOS message appears and you're able to access the utility:
· Go to " Configure View Host Adapter Settings "
· Go to " Advanced Configuration Options "
Make sure " Host Adapter BIOS " and " Display Ctrl-A Message " are Enabled. (on some SCSI Cards the message: " SCSI Controller Int13 Support " is used in place of the " Host Adapter BIOS " ).
- If the BIOS or SCSI Select message does not appear at all, then it may be that the controller is either defective or has failed.
