D2OL: Hail and well met worthy opponents!

First, please pardon me that I cannot read, write, or speak Dutch (French, yes... Dutch, no ), and, yes, registering was an adventure!

I have come to ask that a representative of the DPC D2OL team join me representing Team AnandTech, along with a representative from HardCoreWare, ArsTechnica and TeamUSA to have a chat with Ken at Sengent. I would like to propse that we get him to discuss the issues that are important to us concerning this project that have caused all of our teams to lose so many members over the last 3 months. I think we are all frustrated by the current situation and would like to see changes. We would need to collectively come to an agreement as to how we would want to have Sengent focus their efforts towards improving this project. If they aren't willing to listen to the 5 currently top producing teams, I'm not sure that there is much future for this project, but certainly much frustration.

I have already talked with rstarr of Team HardCoreWare and he is willing to represent his team in this effort to get Sengent's attention. I am the defacto representative of Team AnandTech as so many of the veterans have left. I have yet to talk with Ars or TeamUSA (who just lost mayo), but I figure that if the DPC don't participate in this attempt to make things run more smoothly, then the effort is doomed from the start.

Welcome on our forum Geoff! I agree with you that a 'joined' dialog with Ken would be the smart thing to do at the moment. And I'm sure a DPC representative would be pleased to join you in the effort. Being a junior member of the team, I'm not sure I would be the right person for the job, but I'm available for any job you can think off.

I'm also known in Sengents forum as "Geintje" sow you have seen some of my postings over there..
"My" team "DPC LawnMooherMen" quit a few months ago because lac off info from Sengent. We were #1 Worldwide at that time..
(yes I did 95 point 25ste jan 2003 with 1 PC just for fun)
"MAYO" as well quit a few days ago He is #1 right now..
Sengent did not care then and does not care now.

I don't think any discussion will resolve anything. sorry..

geintje - I understand your frustration. I followed, and participated in, some of your discussions and complaints with Ken, and I enjoyed competing with you, and ate a lot of your dust I really hope that if the top 5 producing teams all present a unified front, and perhaps resort to pressure tactics like a boycott or something, that we would get the attention of Ken & whoever is behind the project. The loss of the two most prolific crunchers in the project didn't seem to bother them that much... maybe if the top 5 prolific teams all stopped producing, that would get their attention.

Mar - Yes, but the 'strategy' of the 'science' depends on all of the candidates being processed several times. This has been made clear by Ken W at Sengent

But who will be the representative for DPC, I think everybody who is participating in D2OL and is aware of the problemens at Sengent can do the talking! (If you are participating for this project for 2 months or something, then you certainly will know it.)

sengent wants every candidate to be done like at least 20 times so they are happy with repeated computation on the same candidate

I am also hoping that this attempt will get the attention of Sengent. I came into work this morning to find:

3 machines stuck on bad conformers
3 machines with no work
1 machine stuck on a DockWin error.

Very frustrating!

griz and rstarr have both been in touch with me. I have yet to hear from TeamUSA and Ars Technica Frozen Yogurt. I will be away today and tomorrow, back on Wednesday. At that time, we will start strategizing on how to present out concerns to Sengent.

Well, things were going really well, so we didn't see the need to turn the heat up on Sengent. My personal farm of PCs has been running really well, with no hang ups at all. I'm trying to get in touch with rstarr to find out what is going on with him, but I haven't heard back from him yet. mayo from TeamUSA seems to be jumping back on to the project because I've been telling him how well the project has been going. Has anyone else on DPC had stuck machines? I figure with my large farm of PCs, that if I'm not having problems, the probably other people aren't having problems.

I didn't hear from him either, have no idea what's going on. I believe nobody had any hangups yet, but the statsoutage yesterday scared some people that things didn't change... We all know it did though, no need to be scared

No stuck machines in my corner. Even better: whereas I made approx. 80 per day on my P4 I now do in between 100 and 120 per day since the update
