Hi,

I have seen this subject posted about 1000times.
I read all threads and nothing worked for our company.

Our situation:

We have 2 mailservers in 2 different locations, in 2 different active
directory sites.

We have 30 users in site 1 and 5 users in site 2
we have 10 public folders of which 3 are shared to site 2.
We run Windows 2000 server incl. service pack 3, Exchange 2000 incl.
service pack 3 and Sybari Antigen 7.0 (antivirus) with SMTP in/out and
Realtime scan jobs running with 5 virus scanning engines on both
mailservers.
both mailservers are domain controllers and have global catalog roles.

we have Windows 2000 pro (incl. Sp3) and Windows XP Pro (incl. sp1)
clients which all run Office XP (incl. sp1).

we have researched alot and came to the following conclussions:

when people get the message: "Retrieving information from exchange
server ..."
there is no unusual network traffic, disk activity or processor
activity on the mailservers. But still we receive these messages. Not
only when opening mail but just having outlook opened, want to close
it or whatever. We don't get the message on a regular basis, but I
think the workers receive it like 10 times a day, which is very
annoying and costs a lot of valuable time. Sometimes you have to wait
for about 20 seconds but sometimes even for a minute. The stranged is,
what I wrote before, is that there isn't anything noticeable on the
server, the perfomance monitors don't show up anything odd. It's an
Asus AP1700 server, with dual P4 Xeon processors running @ 1.8 ghz,
scsi harddisks (U-160) and 2 gb of DDR266 memory. We don't understand
the problem and have tried many many things.

the machine in site 2 is a dual p3-733 with 1.5gb of pc133 memory, but
that should be enough for 5 users. the users in site 2 suffer from the
same problems now and then...

We hope some of you could help, it's a very anoying problem...

We zijn hier een Nederlandstalig forum en aangezien jij in staat bent om dit wel te vertalen zien we liever een Nederlandstatige versie.

Graag dat even in (netjes) Nederlands omzetten...
