Boot files voor Windows XP weg ?

Ik zit met een probleem helaas.
Zal het zo duidelijk mogelijk proberen uit te leggen.

Ik heb 2 hardeschijven in mijn computer, de eerste met Windows 2000 prof en de tweede met Windows XP prof. Nou, werkte allemaal prima. Met boot menu ook uiteraard.

Maar nu kreeg ik een probleem met Windows 2000 en heb ik dat gisteren opnieuw geinstalleerd. Had een backup gemaakt van de boot.ini die goed werkte en plaatste die weer terug na de schone installatie van Windows 2000.

Goed, als ik dus opstart zie ik mijn oude vertrouwde bootmenu weer ... maar als ik voor Windows XP kies loopt de computer vast.
Ik denk omdat er een paar bestandjes missen binnen Windows 2000 (op de master HD) aangezien je altijd moet installeren op volgorde. Eerst Windows 2000 en dan pas XP. Maar nu ik dus Windows 2000 opnieuw heb moeten installeren, is het toch eigenlijk belachelijk dat ik mijn XP ook opnieuw moet installeren ?

Is er geen andere manier, de files die XP dus binnen 2000 zet handmatig erin zetten ? Want op dit moment KAN ik Windows XP niet ook opnieuw installeren vanwege werk zaken en dergelijke.

Ik hoop echt dat iemand me kan helpen.

De computer gebruikt NTLDR in je root om windows 2k en XP op te starten. Het probleem is alleen dat de NTLDR van win2k niet overweg kan met XP, vanwege vernieuwingen die later doorgevoerd zijn tijdens het booten.

Wat moet je dus voor elkaar krijgen? De nieuwe NTLDR gebruiken. Als je kan opstarten met de windows XP cd dan kan je kiezen voor de recovery console, daar kan je FIXBOOT uitvoeren op je windows xp systeem, dan zet hij de juiste bootfiles terug.

Ik weet niet zeker of je dan ook gelijk weer Windows 2k kan booten, maar dat kan je dan nog invoeren in de boot.ini (hoewel het me logisch lijkt dat ie dat wel herkent).

In de Microsoft knowledgebase staat ook nog informatie over FIXBOOT, moet je daar even kijken. Denk dat er ook wel topics over geweest zijn.

Okay dankjewel, ik heb al veel gezocht maar jij brengt me naar waarschijnlijk de juiste oplossing. Dat is echt top.

Zit nu bij Sony nog maar zodra ik thuis ben vanavond ga ik het gelijk proberen.

Cannot Start Windows XP After You Install Windows 2000

SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to start Windows XP after you install Windows 2000, you may receive the following error message:

"Starting Windows...
Windows 2000 could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM.

You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows 2000 Setup using the original Setup floppy disk or CD-ROM.
Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair."
If the Windows XP install was an upgrade from Windows 2000, you may instead receive the following error message on a blue screen while attempting to start Windows XP:

BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO
STOP 0x00000074
CAUSE
This issue occurs because Windows XP did not exist when Windows 2000 was released. The Windows 2000 bootstrap loader files are not aware of the changes that have been made in Windows XP. The computer needs these changes to load Windows XP.

NOTE: If you attempt to install Windows 2000 in a different partition while the computer is running Windows XP, you may receive the following error message:

This CD-ROM is from an older version of Windows than the one you are presently using. Setup functionality from this disk will be disabled.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, start the computer in Windows 2000, and then copy the NTLDR and Ntdetect.com files from the I386 folder on the Windows XP CD-ROM to the root of the system drive.

Even though a workaround for this issue is described in this article, you can only perform a dual Startup when you install Windows XP in a different partition after you install Windows 2000.
