System Requirements
SuSE Linux is suitable for all common PC hardware components.
The following requirements should be met to ensure a smooth operation of SuSE Linux.
Processor
Intel: 486 DX Pentium® 4;
AMD: Duron, Athlon, Athlon XP
Cyrix
IBM
286er, 386er and 486er without a coprozessor are not supported
Main memory
A minimum of 64 MB are required for the installation with YaST2. The minimum installation in text mode is possible with 48 MB (the free installation support does not cover this minimum installation).
Hard drive
400 MB to more than 3 GB (Personal Edition) or 6 GB (Professional Edition) for full installation 2 GB or more recommended.
Graphics cards
SuSE Linux comes with drivers for all common cards, including the following
ATI: Radeon 7500/8500, FireGl 8700/8800
Matrox: G450/G550
nVidia: GeForce 2/3, nForce
ISA plug & play cards
ISA plug & play cards may have to be configured manually.
For use in a professional environment we recommend the following
