Sony Ericsson has just released a new CDMA2000 1x phone for Japanese network KDDI. The phones are targeted at the youth market and are massively customizable. When a a call or a message is coming in, nearly the entire phone lights up and blinks with user selectable patterns and colors. Even the hinge of the folder design A1101s lights up. There is a vast assortment of interchangeable covers, and even new menu themes can be downloaded from the Japanese Sony Ericsson WAP site.
The A1101s sports a 65,536 color TFT display (similar to the Samsung SGH-S100), and has polyphonic ringtones. The device weighs in at 110g.
