Promise RAID probs tijdens SUSE Setup

Hallo,

Ik probeer SuSE Linux 8.1 te installen in een RAID0 Configuratie.
Ik heb daarvoor de juiste drivers gedownload van de Promise site.
Vervolgens een driverdiskette gemaakt zoals aangegeven in de readme.txt.
Dan doe ik de volgende stappen van de setup zoals beschreven in de readme.txt:

2.2 To install the FastTrak Series Linux Driver into a NEW SYSTEM:

1) Start the SuSE install by booting from SuSE CD1.
2) Choose `Manual Installation', and append parameters(see Note 3.1 below).
3) When the `Main menu' dialog box appears, choose the third option
`Kernel modules (hardware drivers)'.
a. choose `Load IDE/RAID/SCSI modules'
b. choose `More modules' at the bottom line
c. Insert the `Promise Driver Disk' floppy
d. choose `Load IDE/RAID/SCSI modules'
e. choose the first option `FastTrak : FastTrak Series Driver' without
parameter.
f. back to main menu
4) When the `Main menu' dialog box appears, choose the fourth option
`Start installation / system'
a. choose `Start installation/update'
b. choose `CD-ROM'
5) When the `Confirm driver activation' dialog box appears, DO NOT load
these two Driver/Module `ataraid' and `pdcraid'.
6) When in `Installation Settings', select `Booting' option.
a. make sure the kernel parameters (see Note 3.1 below) have been typed
in `Kernel boot parameters'
b. enable `Use the 'linear' option'
7) Continue with the installation as normal.
When the "The LILO boot sector has been written to disk..." dialog box
appears, press Alt-Ctrl-F2 and insert the `Promise FastTrak Disk' in
the floppy drive.
9) Issue the following commands at the # prompt to setup
the FastTrak Series Linux Driver:
# chroot /mnt
# mount /dev/fd0 /floppy
# cd /floppy
# sh setup-ft
# cd /
# umount /floppy
# exit
10) Press Alt-Ctrl-F7 and continue with the installation as normal.
11) After installation has completed, please re-boot system without the
Promise boot disk.

Ik kom dus niet verder dan stap 2
Ik kies tijdens het eerste scherm voor "manual Install" en vul netjes de parameters in zoals beschreven in de NOTE 3.1
Ik druk op ENTER en het scherm wordt zwart, de cdrom begint te spinnen en de HD's worden actief.
Na enige minuten stopt de cdrom met spinnen en de HD's blijven actief en scherm blijft zwart.
Na 10 minuten is het scherm nog steeds zwart en de HD's zijn nog steeds actief, maar er geberut voor de rest geen fuck

Please help me out here. Ik overweeg al om de HD's uit RAID0 te halen en ze op een ATA100 kaart te prikken.
Was geen ramp geweest als er geen perfecte WindowsXP install op stond

Oh, de hardware is de volgende:
ASUS P4B533-E met de Promise MB FastTrack133 Lite chip erop.

Linux kan niet met alle raid controllers over weg maar er zijn hier best wel wat topics over te vinden dus zoek is verder zou ik zo zeggen

Om een vage reden en hoe ik het gedaan heb weet ik niet draait het boeltje nu.
Niks geen geklooi met parameters en diskettes, nee gewoon de safe settings install gedaan.
Maar heb toch besloten om de 2 schijven uit RAID te halen (performancewinst is toch nihil) en ze op een UDMA100 kaartje te prakken. Dan op de ene HD WXP en op de andere HD Linux.
