Granite Bay
Intel E7205 chipset, formally known as Granite Bay, for the Pentium 4 Northwood (and single processor Xeon Prestonia) is expected to be released on Late November (25th?). Granite Bay is expected to feature 533Mhz FSB support, dual channel DDR200/266 DDR SDRAM (giving a memory bandwidth of 4.2Gb/s), AGP 8X and Intel's ICH4 South Bridge.
Springdale
Intel Springdale chipset, for the Intel Northwood and Prescott P4 cores, is expected to be released in Q1 2003. Springdale will support the 533Mhz FSB of Northwood as well as the 667Mhz FSB required by the forthcoming Prescott (Pentium 5) CPU. Springdale will offer support for Dual Channel DDR333 SDRAM, offering 5.3GB/s of memory bandwidth, and AGP8X. The Springdale chipset features a new interface called the Communications Streaming Architecture (CSA) bus. The CSA bus is dedicated to high speed LAN devices (Gigabit Ethernet) and provides a separate 2GB/s link to prevent LAN devices from saturating the ICH/MCH link or the PCI bus. The Springdale chipset will include Intel's ICH5 south bridge.
beide lijken me interessant.. weinig verschil is er zo te zien niet..
maar de springdale lijkt me ERG interessant om op te wachten aangezien er reeds support is voor de opvolger van de P4 .. dus ook al lijkt GB me zo leuk, ik begin te denken dat ik beter zou wachten.. zijn er mensen die hier meer onfi over kwijkt kunnen ? zoals bvb dat prescott ook een verschillende pincount zou hebben in latere versies ? .. en voltage etc...
wat zouden jullie doen ?
ik weet dat je kan blijven wachten etc.. maar het lijkt me een kleine moeite om enkele maanden te wachten tot die springdale.. aangezien ik niet HOEF te upgraden momenteel.. was het wel van plan maar men dual p3 1ghz zal het wel nog zolang uithouden schat ik
