I'm curious as to what are the different things you can do with the IR port
on Palms/Handsprings/Sony's Palm devices?
For instance, it is well known that you can 1) beam apps to another Palm. 2)
IR sync with a computer 3) Use Omniremote to make your IR port into a
universal remote control 4) play multiplayer Palm OS games through the IR
port (e.g. pocketChess)
I do all 4 things mentioned up there. But can Palm IR ports do anything
else?
For example, is it possible to measure distances with it, and report back
the amount of centimeters? Or is it possible to count people who pass by
your Palm device, like to count how many people are in a movie theatre? (I
guess this can be accomplished by setting up an IR field, and when someone
walks by it, it disrupts it, and the Palm would be alerted immediately)
Finally, is it possible to measure infrared frequencies in your environment
using the Palm IR port? (in a scientific way of course) I'm curious if
anyone has designed any programs relating to these things
TIA
Chris
