Q.
How do I put Gaim in my Panel, or dock Gaim?
A.
In 0.59.x and below, Gaim only has support for Gnome's panel. Once 0.60 is released Gaim will have replaced the gnome-applet with a tray icon that conforms to the standards at
www.freedesktop.org. KDE supports this in the current cvs (what will be the 3.1 release), as does Gnome. Gaim will insert the tray icon in any System Tray implementation that conforms to these standards, so feel free to write one for your window manager of choice.
En bij nieuws.
I just wanted to let you all know that there is no applet for GNOME 2 (nor will there ever be). Instead, Robert McQueen has written a Docklet plugin. A docklet does everything our applet used to do, but with far less overhead. Plus, it'll work with KDE. The docklet conforms to the freedesktop.org standards implemented by GNOME 2 with its Notification Area applet found in GNOME CVS--tarred up here by Robert McQueen and by KDE with this patch from RedHat's null beta. Just load docklet.so, and you're set to go.
*Update 09/24/2002 12:59PM EDT*
We just received word that the above patch to the KDE kicker is now in KDE CVS and will be included in KDE 3.1.
Dus wat moet je doen:
1 notification area installeren.
2 gaim 0.60 (gtk2 versie) installeren.
3 plugin laden
4 klaar!
