After following the 'Windows XP Pro Filesharing' guide at
www.practicallynetworked.com, I came across the following problem: I
cannot log in under another name than I specified in the sharing
permissions. I am not promted for a username and password, but I only
get the message that I do not have permission to use the network
resource.
I then tried to duplicate the user/password on the client and this
seems to work. However, I want to use the password prompt, so I can
log in with other credentials.
Someone advised me to look in the credentials manager to see if the credentials for this particular share were cached, but they weren't.
After this, I used the option map network drive and explicitly
indicated I wanted to connect using a different user name. After
entering the username/password, I get the following errors:
1. The network folder specified is currently mapped using a different
user name and password. To connect using a different user name and
password, first disconnect any existing mappings to this network
share.
2. The mapped network drive could not be created because the following
error has occurred:
Multople connections to a server or shared resource by the same user,
using more than one user name, are not allowed. Disconnect all
previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again...
My remarks concerning the above:
1. I never accessed this particular share before, so I never entered
any username or password
2. There aren't any active connections with this server/share
3. There aren't any existing mappings to this network share.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Ruben
