Hij zat al bij de vs.net 2003 beta maar voor de ongelukkigen die niet in die beta zitten nu ook los verkrijgbaar:

The beta of the Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1 Software Development Kit (SDK) and Redistributable is now available for download, along with the Microsoft Visual J#. .NET Redistributable Package. We encourage you to download these and provide us with feedback.

The .NET Framework 1.1 Beta features improved scalability and performance; support for mobile device development with the ASP.NET Mobile Controls (formerly the Microsoft Mobile Internet Toolkit); support for Internet Protocol version 6; and classes in ADO.NET for native communication with Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) and Oracle databases. It also enables the use of code access security to further lock down and isolate ASP.NET applications. For more information, read the .NET Framework 1.1 Beta Overview.

We will release the .NET Framework 1.1 to the manufacturer simultaneously with Microsoft Windows .NET Server 2003. We appreciate your help in making this a strong, successful release and look forward to hearing about your experiences developing with and running this software.

Krijgen we dan naast de System.Data.SqlClient en System.Data.OleDb namespaces (en classes) bijkomende voor ODBC en native Oracle database access?

Waren die niet al los te downloaden ook voor het 1.0 framework?

Maar als ik het zo lees zit er niks schokkends in deze update voor de "normale" windows developer. Alleen voor ontwikkelaars voor mobiele apparatuur is dit een zeer nuttige uitbreiding.

Is er trouwens veel veranderd in VS.Net 1.1 Everret of valt dat ook een beetje tegen?

ODBC wel, Oracle moet via OleDB of anders ODBC.
