My problem is this:
Sometimes when I use or install an application and reboot my system my screen stays black and my system-speaker starts bleeping, and just doesn’t load anything.
It doesn’t do a memory test or loads the bios. The system just halts immediately. To stop the bleeping you can do just one thing and that’s pulling out the power plug, which after 10 minutes can be put back and then everything works like normal. This also always occurs while playing C&C: RED ALERT, RED ALERT 2, or TIBERIAN SUN. These games can be played for about 10 minutes, and then the picture freezes and the last 3 seconds of sound are constantly repeated. To stop this I have to reboot my system, which then shows the previously described problem. The weird thing is that this problem doesn’t occur on all locations I put my system. If I put it in my Bedroom, the problem doesn’t occur. My system configuration is:
- AMD Athlon1200 MHz processor
- MSI K7T Turbo mainboard
- VIA KT133A mainboard chipset
- Nvidia GEFORCE 2 MX 3D Accelerator (agp)
- Creative SoundBlaster Live! 1024 (pci)
- 128 MB RAM (just replaced by my local dealer)
- 40 GB Hard-Drive (ide)
- Logitech Pilot mouse+ (ps/2)
- Standard keyboard (Azona win 98) (ps/2)
- AOpen DVD-drive (ide)
- LG CED-8080B CD-Writer (ide)
- Intel V92 HAM Data Voice Fax Modem (pci)
- Realtek RTL8139 Family Fast Ethernet NIC (pci)
- Epson color 680 printer (usb)
- Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP Steering Wheel (usb)
- Mustek 1200 CU Plus Scanner (usb)
- Pinnacle PCTV TV Viewing card (pci)
- Windows XP Professional (the problem occurs with win 98, Win ME and Win XP)
If have updated all my drivers so that can’t be the problem, my local dealer can’t find the problem because it doesn’t occurs at their workshop. I have formatted my entire hard-drive about 3 times now. The peripheral-equipment doesn’t seem to be the problem because the problem also occurs if I don’t connect any of it.
