Adaptec 2904CD kaartje wil niet onder XP

Ik heb m'n Adaptec 2904cd kaartje voor m'n brander naar een andere pc verplaatst. Nu wil het kaartje echter niet meer worden geinstalleerd onder XP. Hij heeft het prima gedaan, maar toen werd XP erop gezet toen het kaartje erin zat, nu werd het kaartje later toegevoegd.

Bij het opstarten vraagt hij om drivers, terwijl windows die blijkbaar gewoon op de CD heeft staan. Ik heb drivers van de adaptec site afgehaald (win2000 drivers), die scheen hij te installeren, maar op het laatst kreeg ik een melding met "invalid data".

Het vreemde is dat ik ook m'n Terratec TV kaart niet geinstalleerd krijg, zelfde probleem, maar dan met Windows XP (WDM) drivers.

Wie weet wat ik hieraan kan doen?

Is geen ernstig probleem, je moet ff in het register wat aanpassingen maken.
Jammer dat de search nog steeds vernaggeld is, want ik het het al eens volledig uitgeschreven.

denk dat als je met google zoekt naar dat invalid registry zoekt dat het wel goed komt.

If you get the error "The data is invalid" while installing a new modem into your system, you can resolve the error by following these steps.

Click "Start" and select "Run".

Type in "regedit" in the open field and click "OK".

The Registry Editor will then appear on the screen

Click on the (+) icon next to the word "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"

Click on the (+) icon next to the word "SYSTEM"

Click on the (+) icon next to the word "CurrentControlSet"

Click on the (+) icon next to the word "Enum"

Click on the (+) icon next to the word "PCI"

Inside the "PCI" folder there are keys like this :

(VEN_1471&DEV_0188&SUBSYS_5004144F&REV_10)

Each of these keys represent a device installed in your PC. You need to go through all of these keys one at a time.


Click on the (+) icon next to the first key and then a subkey will appear below it like this:

Click on this key and on the right hand side there will be a value called "DEVICEDESC"

Search through all of the "DEVICEDESC" values for each key. You need to match the "DEVICEDESC" value with the type of device you are installing.

For ADSL Modems this will read "Network Controller". For PCI Modems this will read "PCI Communications Device". For example if the device you are trying to install is an ADSL modem then the "DEVICEDESC" would be "Network Controller". Or, if the device you are trying to install is a PCI modem then the "DEVICEDESC" would be "PCI Communications Device".


Once you have searched through each of the keys and found the correct "DEVICEDESC" right click on it, and select "Permissions".

Place a tick in the box under the word "Allow", next to "Full Control".

Click on "OK"

Close the Registry Editor.

Click on "Start", then select "Control Panel".

Open the "System" control panel.

Select the "Hardware" tab.

Click the "Device Manager" button.

Look for the "Other Devices" heading and click on the (+) symbol next to it.

Right click on the device name that matches the "DEVICEDESC" value you changed in the registry and select "Properties".

Click on the "Driver" tab at the top of the screen

Click the word "Update Driver". Windows will now ask you for the disk or CD-ROM that contains the driver for the failing device.
Once you insert the media and point it to the correct location then the device will now install itself correctly without any errors.

Dit is hierboven uitgelegd voor een modem, maar de methode werkt natuurlijk voor ale hardware waar je bij het installeren deze foutmelding op krijgt.

Een SCSI controller heet in de DEVICEDESC "Mass Storage Controller" . Kijk wel uit, zo heten IDE en RAID controllers ook.

Je kunt de exacte benamingen en device-ID nummers (fabrikant+kaart) vinden door te booten met een niet bootable flop. De machine blijft dan stilstaan bij een scherm met gevonden hardware, Hardware IRQ indelingen zoals die initieel zijn toegewezen, en de benamingen van de 'devices'.
