NEC DV5700 DVD speler regiovrij te maken?

Tis een 12x DVD 40x CD-ROM speler.

Helaas volgens mij is deze dvd-speler niet regio-vrij te maken althans ik ben de juiste firmware niet tegengekomen. Ik heb hem zelf ook en baal hier dus best van maar mocht iemand hier wel tips over hebben graag

Het blijkt dat je hem met een soldeerbout regiovrij kunt krijgen. Heb het zelf nooit geprobeerd, maar mocht je de specsheets vinden, dan heb ik wel interesse

Ikzelf heb het op een non-tweaker manier opgelost. Zal maar niet posten wat het was, anders wordt ik straks nog gebanned.

de NEC DV5500A en 5700B zijn ook al niet regiovrij te krijgen.

werkte dit maar. ik krijg mijn drive niet eens geflashed. Kan ook geen jumpervinden die flashen write protect.
denk dat ik hem toch maar eens openmaak.

da's inderdaad wel minder ja. Ik neem aan dat je flashed vanuit dos en gene shell in windhoos? anyway, met m'n lite on LTD163 ging het perfect. Ik heb voor de rest geen ervsring met het flashen van NEC DVD drives. Wel heb ik meerdere DVD drives geflashed van verschillende types aan de hand van de bovenstaande URL en tot nu toe allemaal zonder problemen.

Miscchien heb je hier nog wat aan (sorry voor de lange post)

6. Q. I have downloaded patched firmware, but when I am flashing, flasher says:
"FW CODE MISMATCH". What does it mean?

A. Each Firmware has Version number and Code. If Code on your drive does not match the Firmware you are going to flash into, FLASH.EXE program will report an error. Most likely this FW Code has some relation to drive HW, so it is better not to try flash over with different FW Code. You can read your FW code and Version, using FLASH.EXE program and choosing "Execution Mode" 1 (Read Device).

7. Q. I have done flashing, it was OK, but my Region counter still is 3 (2, 1, drive is locked). What a heck is that?

A. This patch does not update counter itself, since counter is within flash, but outside that area, which is updated during flashing. Patch is changing firmware logic - instead or decrementing the counter it is set to 4, when
"Send Key" -> "Set RPC" command is sent to DVD. So, you have to apply Region change, after that counter will be set to 4. The simplest way is to play DVD movie from different region - your software player (if it is an original one, not patched) will offer you to set new region code. You can use also another utilities, dedicated for that purpose (take a look at this site
http://perso.clubinternet.fr/farzeno/firmware/utilities.htm).

Before doing this, remember once again about DEFAULT code - regin code you will set after flashing, will be stored to flash memory of the drive, so as the first one, play DVD from the region you would like to be DEFAULT.

8. Q. I have flashed my DVD, but drive still is locked. What I have to do?

A. If your drive is locked (counter is 0) and software, like DRIVEINFO11.EXE says about status of drive "Fixed, can not be changed", software DVD players will not issue region code change request. So you need to find out the way to issue that command anyway. One approach is to use utility, which do not check the status of drive, or sends the command any case. It must work. It has been reported in discussion forum, that Herosoft "DVD region info" does work that way, but I have no possibility to test it - I could not find that utility on the net.

Other way is to cheet player, informing that drive is not locked. For that reason another patch was made DXXXrNNN.HEX, DXXXtNNN.HEX, DXXXuNNN.HEX or DXXXwNNN.HEX).

So, there is "how to":

8.1. Flash your locked drive by unlocking patch version DXXXrNNN.HEX,DXXXtNNN.HEX, DXXXuNNN.HEX or DXXXwNNN.HEX (XXX - drive model, NNN - firmware version).
8.2. Switch off PC, restart it, run DRIVEINFO11.EXE to see, that counter for your drive is now reported as 4 (for "r" version patch) or 3 (for the latest version patches), and status is "Not permanent". If it is not so, you have flashed on something else, not those patches.

Remember!!!

After flashing locked drives, even DRIVEINFO or another tool says, that counter is 4 (or 3), actually it is not yet.

8.3. Insert DVD movie for region, which differs from current, run your software DVD player, and when if offers you to change region code, agree. Voila, now counter is really 4 and you can use your drive again for any
region.

Ik heb idd geflashed vanuit dos (met bootflop enzo).
NEC zelf weet ook niets over die drives mbt de regio (werk bij NEC en kan dat soort dingen wel opzoeken)

ik krijg iedere keer gezeik dat de firmware niet klopt
mijn drive staat al regio gelocked, maar dit zou te verhelpen moeten zijn
kan ook geen jumpervinden voor regio lock oid (/me heeft de drive even opengemaakt)

was het maar zo gemakkelijk
moet eigenlijk versie 3.43 hebben, die werkt, maar de firmware van dat ding is 1.91 en die .zip op de site is dood.
