Reader Comments: HI, this site was recommebded to me before I bought an internal IDE drive which I added to an external firewire case. I am having a problem with my burner and it recogniseing on my computer, whether it be through PROFILER, TOAST or ITUNES. The drive was running fine when I first installed it all, lights all came on, but for some reason my computer didnt see it there. It wasnt intill I removed the firewire cable from the back of the drive, let the light flash for a second and then replace it till it actually recognised it. That's all fine you see but... When I quit my Toast/iTunes application and relaunch it, I then have to go through the steps again. NOT FUN! I am currently running OSX 10.1.5 and found that my burner also would not recognise with Toast 5.1.2 but did with the Toast 5.1.3 updater. Please tell me what I can do to to fix this problem.????

Mike Comments: Some FW cases have problems with faster Lite-On drives (I hav no idea what FW case you have but I had this problem with some ADS pyro cases noted in the main site news - there's also a page at the main site FW articles page on problems with some older ADS Pryo cases that were firmware related - the flasher requires a PC to update that older model's firmware as noted in that article).

If the drive is jumpered to master (normal for most FW case installs), it might be worth trying the 'cable select' a few readers said, (although my Liteon 40x is set to master as is typical).
If none of the above help (and internal cable and FW cable, drive and FW case bridge are OK) I don't know what to suggest - it might be a case FW bridge firmware issue with the drive. (Try the drive with a friend's mac to see if it works with their system.)
Also try searching for other FW/Lite-on owner reports here (leave mac model blank when searching to not limit the reports to those from one mac model.)
