Cups en samba

Deze post heb ik gepost in de cups genral newsgroup vandaar het engels....Omdat ik geen reactie krijg probeer ik het hier maar eens

I thought I set up everythin ok...but.....Here's the problem

The server runs cups 1.1.15 with espgs 7.05.3 and samba 2.2.5
I have a 2 cient machines one with linux and cups. The other one runs window
98/xp.
I can print from the server and the client that runs linux.
I cannot print from the client that runs windows.
I can see the printer in the network enviroment and installed it.
In my smb.conf I just have the lines printing = cups and printcap name =
cups.
As far as I can see it samba accepts the printjob and passes it to cups.
I see an error in ../cups/error.log giving me the same error as before.....
"Unable to convert file 0 to printable format for job X"
and then it cancels the job.

In /etc/cups/mime.convs and mime.types I enabled the "raw filter" at the
bottom of those files.
"ldd smbd" shows me that samba is compiled agains libcups.

Help would be appreciated.

Ik had dat zelfde probleem naardat ik van cups 1.1.14 naar 1.1.15 was gegaan (onder freebsd), maar bij mij printe hij ook onder cups niet.

op de cups website staat daar iets over:

CUPS 1.1.15 and higher no longer include the PostScript RIP filter, pstoraster, necessary for printing PostScript, PDF, text, or HP-GL/2 files to non- PostScript printers. You must also install a version of Ghostscript with the "cups" raster driver (gdevcups.c) to print to non-PostScript printers.

Ik maakte eerst gebruik van de deskjet drivers van cups zelf en nu heb ik gnu ghostscript + hpijs geinstalleerd en nu werkt het wel goed.

pstoraster is een filter wat voorheen in cups zelf zat. Nu moet je daarvoor esp-ghostscript voor gebruiken......Dit heb ik gedaan, vandaar dat het printen onder linux wel goed gaat. Ik snap alleen niet waarom het met samba niet lukt.

Wat voor data stuurt die WIndows machine naar de server? als je gewoon de driver voor je printer ook op de Windows bak installeert, kun je in de samba-configuratie bij het print command gewoon een optie meegeven dat ie het raw naar de printer moet sturen.
Als de clients PS naar de server sturen, dannne... dan snap ik er ook niks van

win2k geeft wel is problemen als je naar een ipp gedoe print, en win95 vindt 't sowieso niet zo prettig...

Ik heb beide methoden geprobeerd. In beide gevallen krijg ik dezelfde error als ik via windows print. ünable to convert file 0 .....
