Dus tweakers, BE WARNED!!!!
I ordered a Nikon Coolpix 5000 Digital Camera that was listed as in stock. After calling and getting answering machines and sending unanswered e-mails, I finally spoke with someone 19 days after I originally placed the order. He tried to sell me all the extras, and when I was firm about not wanting them, he then told me that the camera would not be received for at LEAST 16 WEEKS. I think that they list a low price in order to sell you all the extras, but when the customer isn't interested in the extras (at an inflated price), then all of a sudden the "available" item is no longer readily available. WHAT A SCAM. I would never shop here again.
I ordered a Canon D30 from their website 50 days ago. I got an e-mail back requesting I call customer support to confirm my order. The service person I talked to wanted to sell me a bunch of extra things I did not want. After refusing I was told the camera body would ship in a couple of weeks. I called back a month later only to be told that the camera was on back-order. I don't think they have any intention of selling me the camera at the price quoted on their website!
CAUTION!!!! ALERT!!!! This is BROADWAY PHOTO!!! They have the same address, 2922 Ave L, Brooklyn. I check on them through other site that also have the lowest prices and service comments. They have the same comments as Broadway. Again I almost bought my camera through them. If you don't believe me check for yourself. Don't be fooled.
While this was the old "bait and switch", the price was so good it was difficult not to order. The store called me to verify the order, let me know that this was the "international" version - had no cables download software etc - bare camera and batteries only. Sale help was courteous, not pushy, and explained all in detail. The actual price for the "US' Version was in line with all the ohers _ $949 plus shipping. They had not charged my credit card until vocal verification of the order and there wasno difficulty in canceling the order - high marks for honesty and courteous treatment.
Excellent price on camera. Very vague about accessory manufacturers. Accessories overpriced when compared to other online sources.
A&M Photo is Broadway Photo. While they have different numbers they share phone operators, as I have gotten the same person by calling both numbers. They both purchase international products, store them in their warehouses international and then claim that they can be shipped the next day. Well they can, internationally and unless you know what your asking about you won't find that out for a couple of weeks. This is the reason that Broadway Photo and Giftsplash.com have both been removed from other search sites askjeeves and dealtime.
Review of A&M Photo World aka Broadway Photo aka Photo LLC They make you call on web orders, then try and upsell crap you don't need, filters, cheap chargers, etc they overprice. They sell grey market goods. They sent me the ***anese version with photocopied manuals - had to pay to send it back, recieved Malaysian import, no valid US warranty from Minolta. Would have loved to have rid myself of them but the 15% restock fee kept me from doing so. The good deal you think you are getting will quickly evaporate if you take any package deal (with warranty) but if you don't get a warranty from Mack, then you'll have none! These guys are real shady. I don't trust them or like them. Read the Broadway Photo reviews and you'll see what I mean.
This is a Scam Operation. Tried to purchase a Sony Digital Camera at their advertised price and was told that I needed to buy a battery and lens products that I will need bringing this camera up in price from $499.00 about $200.00 more. The camera already is suppose to come with the battery and they tell me it doesn't. This is definely the old Bait and Switch game here. I say Buyer Beware!
I placed an order for a Canon Powershot G2 on-line. That part went smooth. I was then sent an e-mail asking me to call them and verify my order. I thought it was just to verify my address and phone, etc. but then the high pressure sales started, when they tried to sell me other accessories that weren't mentioned with the original purchase. Turned out that the camera was a stripped down version of the same model shown by different vendors. Theirs didn't include the cables, software, battery, etc. That's why it was listed for less than other stores.
A&M had the best price on the market almost $400.00 less then anyone else. So I ordered and on my conformation slip it said "please note: All orders are subject to finial approval by our customer service department. We contact you regarding adjustments to your order; including but limited to tax and shipping which you will be informed of prior to billing. The charges at this point may not be final. You will receive your final statement (receipt) with the arrival of your package." The next morning I foundan e-mail from them and in it a request to call them call back. I called they answer fast and guy that I talked to was very nice but he kept trying to sell all these different things and final said to him all I want is the camera. He answered with at this price it dose not include charger cable, memory or battery. The price for those things and the camera came to about $200.00 then anyone eles. I canceled my order and checked their site it never states what comes with.
Ordered a Sony F707 online with no problem. Good web site, but then I get email telling me to call to confirm order. I informed that the online price does not include any of the standard accesories- battery, charger, memory card, and strap. All these items should be included. They wanted almost $300 more for the full retail package. Bait and switch. No thanks, cancelled order.
I was ready to buy a Sony Cybershot DSC-S85 and saw A&M Photo World's price. Excellent price. I was elated when I called and the camera was in stock. I then asked if all of the included items were in the box, (charger, battery, memory stick, software,etc.). I was told only the camera was in the box. I was told they sell the camera in two different boxes and the box with all the accessories was over a hundred dollars more. I complained to the customer service supervisor and was then referred to the general manager. Same story. I have read negative reviews about other stores pulling the same scam and I now know what unhappy shoppers are talking about.
What an out and out fraud. Total bait & switch, false advertizing, false pricing. I spoke with 2 different people prior to placing the order, both of which promised the camera was in stock, and if I utilized the overnight shipping I'd have it the next business day. Naturally, I get the "problem with you're order" e-mail. Call them up, "we just want to verify your mailing address for overnight delivery". "All set...Oh, do you want any batteries, it doesn't come with any". I say "no thanks". "How about storage discs, it does not come with those either." (Read the ad on their site for this camera, SONY Mavica 400). Again, "no thanks" but I knew right then where this was heading. Sure enough, "well I just want to let you know that ships from our overseas warehouse so it will be 6 weeks before delivery". I just cancelled the order right then and there. FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD
I ordered a Sony Mavica camera from this company because of their price. They contacted me by email with a phone number to call to confirm my order (something new?) It took me two days to get the call answered. When answered, I was told I would have to spend an additional $80 for the camera battery as the camera came without a battery and would not be operational. Then I was told I would have to buy the lens filters--another added cost. I then cancelled the order an he hung up rather rudely. None of the add-ons were mentioned in their web site. Obviously, their practice is to quote a low price on line and then tell you all the needed parts to make it work. Is this the type of store you would trust? I certainly would not recommend this store to anyone.
Attention perspective Shoppers, do not shop from this store! These bastards give you a very attractive price but no lens no battery no charger and not any of the originally supplied manyfacturers' material are included on any of their camcorders. And this is NOWHERE mentioned in their deceitful and obscure website. And on top of that they are very rude and have very bad attitude. I spoke with one salesman today asking some product info and he was repeatedly pushing me "Sir, are you gonna buy it" with a tone in his voice. This cheesy little operation will be closed in no time!! They can't stay open like this for long. They reminded me so much about Broadway Photo, so if you want to get the full picture of bad marketing, just go and see the customer ratings for Broadway Photo, same applies to A+M!!!
