Asus P4B + Nvidia Vraag

ik heb de Asus P4B gekocht en ik heb nog de Nvidia Quadro 2 Pro liggen

Nu lees ik overal dat de ASUS problemen heeft met SiS305 AGP videokaarten..

alleen kan ik nergens vinden of mijn Nvidia-kaart die chipset heeft

wie kan me helpen....

nvidia = de chipset, sis is een ander merk chipset merk

ik vond het ook voor de hand liggen...

maar omdat ze dit schreven...

"Intel 845 chipset supports 1.5V signaling AGP cards only and the AGP slot on P4B got 1.5V key in it following the AGP specification in order to prevent a 3.3V AGP card from being plugged in. However, it turned out some AGP adapters such as SiS305 based cards, though operate at only 3.3V signaling level, were notched at the 1.5V key on the golden-finger interface. When using these cards, if the Vddq and VCC3.3 signals are shorted on them, will break up the 82845 memory controller hub as the Vddq is raised from 1.5V to 3.3V instead. In other words, the P4B mainboard will be permanently damaged as a result as soon as the system is powered up with such an AGP card. According to AGP specification, AGP4X mode will work at 1.5V signaling level only. If your AGP card has the 1.5V notch as illustrated in the user's manual but it cannot support AGP4X, please check with your card provider or manufacturer whether it can operate at 1.5V signaling level before it's used in combination with P4B."

Daar staat o.a. Sis kaartjes. Dus het kan ook met andere kaarten. Het gaat er om dat je kaart met 1.5 volt moet kunnen omgaan en niet om 3.3 volt moet vragen. Goed engels lezen is blijkbaar moeilijk. En hoe je er achter komt of je kaart 1.5 of 3.3 volt nodig heeft: laatst was er een topic waarin dat omschreven werd. Het heeft met de inkepingen onderaan de kaart te maken, maar hoe het precies ookalweer zat? Dan moet j ff zoeken.

ik heb hem al een uurtje aangehad.. dus zou ik er vanuit kunnen gaan dat het goed is???

de Nvidia Quadro Pro is een AGP4x kaart en heeft ook die notch...


kijkend naar bovenstaande, zou ik er dan vanuit kunnen gaan dat het wel werkt??

Is niet van toepassing omdat je een AGP 4x kaartje hebt.

staat ook in dat berichtje van je. Dus als je een kaart hebt die agp 4x compatible is dan werkt hij op 1.5v en is er niets aan de hand.
Moet ik nu die hele tekst aan je uitleggen, is engels dan echt zo moeilijk. En er zijn eerder ook al topics geweest over de P4B met dit probleem en het heeft volgens mij zelfs op Tnet gestaan. En ja ik ben vanmorgen met het verkeerde been uit bed gestapt

Eh, een nVidia met een SiS? Dit is allemaal wel tamelijk basic, straks krijgen we nog vragen of een Pentium4 een AMD core heeft? Check de search anders even, daar is dit AGP verhaal met de nieuwere AGP 1.5v only moederborden/chipsets verhaal al wel eens langs geweest. Anyway, je bord zou direct de geest hebben gegeven, dus not to worry
