The giveio service needed to make MBM run under Windows NT/2000 in not started, MBM will not function.

Wat is de giveio service ?? En waarom werkt dezelfde MBM na installatie van XP niet meer ??

Uit de mbm 5 helfile....

I get a message that giveio.sys is not loaded/started under Windows 2000/NT

There are 2 solutions here:

1) go to your device manager, locate the service giveio (you might need to enable "show all hidden deviced under win2000) and start it manualy, all should be okay then

2) reinstall MBM 5 and the installer will check for the GiveIO driver, 2 things can happen:

a) The giveIO driver has been found running and you get the question if you want to reinstall it again, select YES after which you get a screen where you can select the startup for the giveIO driver

b) The giveIO driver has not been found running and you get no question and go straight to the screen where you can select the startup for the giveIO driver

Once you are at this screen you can select to start the giveIO driver in 3 ways (explenation taken from Win32 API Help File):

Automatic: Specifies a device driver or service started by the service control manager automatically during system startup.

System: Specifies a device driver started by the I/O system after boot devices such as the boot file system and disk driver have been initialized. The device driver started using this flag is not critical to the system boot.

Boot: Specifies a device driver started by the operating system loader.

Automatic is the default setting and seems to work 99% of the time in Windows NT and 2000, if that fails to start the GiveIO driver then 1st try System which almost always solves the not loading problem on the 1% of Windows NT and 2000 machines left and also seems to work best on windows XP
