mijn config=> asus a7v133, hd ibm 46 gig , wd 40 gig, amd 1ghz, 512 MB sdram

real time effecten.

+ punten =>

=> video kunnen opnemen

Hmmm, well, I'm pretty sure your not entirely going to be happy with my answers.

We'll start will the highest possible frame rate. Unfortunately the fastest possible FPS is achieved only on systems with RDRAM at this point. You see vJo moves huge amounts of data through your memory subsystem in realtime when it is generating it's effect and from the memory subsystem to the videocards ram and out to your detination (monitor, projector, TV, etc.) It is my understanding that the bottle neck being encountered here is the bandwidth of the onboard RAM. In very extensive testing by users in these forums, RAM expansion while helpful will not attain close to the FPS of RDRAM. The biggest advantage you will see by expanding your RAM as much as possible is the benefit of caching your entire show into ram before hand. This helps smooth out all the little hiccups caused by the next effect being loaded while the current one is still playing.

vJo does make use of the CPU, but I'm going to say that your CPU is currently very suitable for the job. Your need to upgrade it will come, but for now it should be fine.

>>most of the animations are 2D , right ??
Most of the current submissions have been 2D in the past simply because we didn't have 3D as an option until very recently when pDoom very kindly release the pD3D engine for free which is now included as a base tool in the install of vJo. I would guess that 2D will always be common, but 3D submissions to the sharing site I would expect to become very common. And this is also a good time to mention that most 3D submissions will contain both 3D and 2D elements. So the video-card will definitly be an important part of the system. From everything I have read so far, the geforce 4 is a excellent choice that will perform well no matter what you throw at it.

The video in/out issue. It has been the experience of many users and proven that using an nvidia based capture input is not the best choice for vlab. The thing is that nvidia video capture is fairly CPU intensive and during your show, the cpu will be busy enough running the show and not really have much to spare for videocapture from your videocard.

I really think that you will get better results (higher quality capture, higher FPS capture and better color reproduction) by using a third party PCI capture card from someone like hauppauge, my personal favorite. I also think that this is a far more economical way of getting the capture option since the hauppauge card runs about $150 CDN, while the jump from a non-deluxe geforce card to a deluxe geforce is about $200-250 difference in CDN. Perhaps the story is different in your area. Get the all out fastest geforce4 without capture HW and buy a PCI capture solution and I'll bet it's cheaper overall. It will definitely be better quality overall.

Read throught his forum and you'll get tons of info, on benchmarks, HW and problems solutions. If you need anymore help, feel free to ask as well.

>>so when i buy the gf4 ti 4200 xp (vivo) 128MB, will i get the highest >>fps possible for the gf4 ?? or is it better to upgrade my cpu to 2 >>ghz ??? another reason i would buy that card is for the vivo, video in / >>video out, since the video out on my matrox doesn't seem to work...
