Het verbaast mij dat ik nog nergens een topic ben tegengekomen over de Xabre videochip van SiS.
is toch best wel een goed dingetje ?
heeft in elk geval als eerste kaart een AGP 8x bus support , kan veel dual-view opties aan:crt + digital / crt + crt / crt + tv, heeft DX9 features, en zal niet al te duur zijn...

Het succes zal vooral samenhangen met hoe snel ze hem leverbaar kunnen krijgen.. als deze dezelfde tijd als de grote kaarten uitkomt (parhelia/nv30/r300) geef ik hem geen kans. Weet deze kaart echter veel eerder te verschijnen kan het nog interessant worden

De performance zal ongeveer bij de geforce 4MX familie gaan liggen. T wordt een leuke kaart voor de budget markt.. Maar ben bang dat ie het niet echt succesvol gaat worden aangezien hij de top kaarten niet bij kan houden.

Ik had dit in het andere topic ook gevraagd maar geen antwoord gekregen, dus nog maar een keer: Weet iemand wanneer er kaarten gebasseerd op deze chip verkrijgbaar zijn?

Heb zelf al gevonden wanneer de kaart van Club3d verkrijgbaar is: begin juni, staat op hun site. Dan zullen andere fabrikanten ook wel rond die datum met hun Xabre kaarten komen, toch?

dan wordt de chip aangekondigd waarschijnlijk, dan nog moeten er nog eens kaarten komen, en dan moeten die dus nog in Nederland uitkomen. Voorlopig geen xabre 400 dus denk ik.

Dat 8x AGP lijkt me alleen maar hype, zelfs de super high end kaarten (firegl enzo) maken amper gebruik van de 4xAGP.

Probeer het zelf maar eens met je radeon of GF4ti schakel in je mobo of met powerstrip naar 2x AGP en kijk naar het verschil. IS misschien iets van 2-5 fps.

Is dit een foutje, of heeft ie echt maar 250Mhz DDR-geheugen (clocksnelheid van 125Mhz) of bedoelen ze hier 250Mhz clocksneleid en dus 500Mhz DDR? (zou ongeveer de eerste kaar zijn dat bij een promotietekst niet de effectieve snelheid wordt gebruikt)

Call it a stroke of bad luck- apparently, the Xabre card we had received was a damaged piece which is why the performance was so unexpected. SiS is arranging a new card and driver set for us that we will re-benchmark.

Hmmm...maar 1 enkele thread gevonden met "xabre" in de topic titel. Zielig IMO.
Anyways: n.a.v. de test op OCWorkbench (te vinden via de voorpagina hiero): De Xabre blijkt niet alleen de GF3Ti200 kundig te verslaan in de meeste tests maar is ook nog SPOTGOEDKOOP!!

I receive a lot of request to find out the pricing of this card. Ok. According to our friends at ECS TW, they mentioned to me that the estimated retail price in USA is US 80-90. The package does not come with 3D glasses.

If it is 90 USD, it will be 59 quid (UK), 93 Euro (Europe), SGD 160 (Singapore), RM 360 (Malaysia) NT2970 (Taiwan), RMB 702 (China), HK 700 (Hong Kong) based on current exchange rate.

Looks like the other brand is a bit overpriced.

Ik zie ook een beregoedkope kaart met genoeg potentieel om mijn sterk verouderde TNT2 even het bejaardenhuis in te trappen. TV-out, DX8, Prima voor 1024 in 32, ik ga er wel voor (voor slechts 130-140 euro's).

Hij is langzamer dan beiden en heeft nog flink wat problemen met de drivers, en de 2d kwaliteit is niet slecht, maar ook niet de beste die er is.

De resulaten qua Pixel Shaders zijn minder dan de concurrentie. Daarmee hoeft 't nog niet slecht te zijn. Zout op slakken leggen is ook een vak. Ik zie hier een kaart die 1) goedkoop is 2) behoorlijk kont schopt met huidige games en 3) behoorlijk goed in de features zit (rara waarom zie ik geen GF4 MX440 bij de Nature test..).

VOor de targets (mainstream hardware) dus een absolute hit. Nu de drivers nog op orde brengen en ik kan op zoek gaan naar zo'n kaart.
