29160 aansluitingen van schijven

Even een korte vraag, heb nu een 29160 met twee U2W schijven en kaart geeft netjes aan 80 mb.

Heeft iemand proefondervindelijk aan een dergelijke kaart een U2W schijf geprobeerd in combinatie met een U160 schijf?
Krijg ik 2 verschillende snelheden te zien? Gaan ze allebei op 80mb of zakken ze naar UW snelheid van 40mb.

Dit omdat het niet zo duidelijk staat vermeld in de handleiding van de kaart. Er wordt vermeld dat U160 apparaten i.c.m. met andere een snelheidsverlies veroorzaken maar de U2W schijven hangen tenslotte ook op de LVD kabel.

I was told that connecting non-Ultra devices to my card would make all my devices slow down to the speed of the slowest device. If I attach my CD-ROM to the same card I'm using for my Ultra Wide hard drive, will my performance decrease?

No. This is a common misconception. Since SCSI is bus structured, the host adapter can communicate with only one device at a time. It will communicate with that device based on the ID (for priority) and the BIOS settings for transfer speed. The transfer speed setting is the maximum
speed the adapter will use for I/O with that device. When doing I/O with any SCSI device on the bus, the adapter will do transfer at "up to the setting in the BIOS. Most operating systems are single tasking and will support one application at a time. If the application calls for a copy operation, for example, from a CD-ROM to a hard drive, the system will access the CD ROM at its speed, download the data to memory, then access the hard drive and transfer the data to the hard drive at its sustained rate. Each device will operate at its sustained rate until the entire I/O operation is completed.

De bedoeling is dus om aan een lvd kabel een u160 en een U2W schijf te halen. Wordt dit dus 40mb/s of 80mb/s of 80 en 160mb/s? Nu is ultra2 een non-ultra160 maar maakt wel gebruik van lvd en zit op een lvd kabel waar dus ook een u160 moet hangen.
Ik hoop dat dit wat duidelijk is.
