We've had them before, people saying that they are going to assimilate hundreds or thousands of computers.... net result: often not much.

And a burnin test usually doesn't take that long, just a couple of days, and all those machines are not built in one day.

Burnin' in a couple of servers is nice for the Borg, but I wonder how many % it will bring up the total TA production. Of cource if you truly get a huge output good for you, one more reason to keep assimilating for us

Just some points:

How lang does a burn-in take ?
How many centres will run simultanious ?
How much load will a key-server handle ?

Any way, I think the calculations are a bit to high. But if you only get 1% it will seriously damage the competition, even for your own team. Feel kinda sorry for Russ, if its true, he'll have to turn his crack-racks into cupboards again .

Sorry Engineer, I guess I've grown too sceptical because of loads of people posting MUCH more credible stories, resulting zip ... zero ... not to mention nada in the rc5-stats.
I simply cannot imagine a company installing this kind of an amount of computing power whatever their activities. Well, except NASA maybe. Then again, I'm not an American

My opinion also involves some wishful thinking ... adding so much PC's to our (DPC as well as TA's ) holy cause would devastate the competition. So it'd better BE a hoax !

Can't say it's a hoax until it doesn't happen....:) Dan is an executive at Compaq computer in the software area...Compaq does install alot of PC's and must run them through a test (burn-in) for their customers (of which I don't know!)....Dan is very resourceful

Anyway, as he states in his posts, it would only be a short burn-in (I think he said around 5 days or less each) and that they wouldn't be online all at the same time (Poor D.net )....

Zomaar een inschatting aan de hand van zijn replies. Hij is altijd een beetje (erg) vijandig, van iemand met een goede functie bij Compaq mag je toch wel een beetje verstand/tact verwachten. Die Russ is ook wel bizar, heeft op zen site links staan naar de national rifle ass. en wapendealers (we worden geript in CS die dingen zijn goedkoper). Betekent trouwens niet dat ik wat tegen die gasten heb, zijn alleen echte amerikanen .

In elk geval heeft ie nu weer een topic geopend over één of andere supercomputer. Die gozer gelooft dat DPC de reacties op hun board plant. De één belededigd, de andere springen in om zicht te verontschuldigen.... Kortom, gewoon een actie om een beetje te stoken. Grappig wel allemaal .
