Apple van G4 naar x86!

Theres also the question of how long Apple wants to stay with the G4s technology. SDRAM and 133 MHz bus speeds are now quite dated, but redesigning the CPU to take advantage of DDR and new bus transport technology would be a considerable task. With both Intel and AMD pushing into the 64-bit market this year, Apple runs the risk of being left behind if they continue to back a 32-bit-only technology much longerbut theres still no word yet on whether or not the G5 will be ready in time, or if it will deliver its promised performance.

Dit hoor je toch al jaren? Ik denk niet dat apple zo makkelijk zal overstappen. Ze kunnen moeilijk de orginele apple gebruikers de rug toe keren omdat hun orginele software nooit zo goed op een x86 geemuleerd kan worden als op echt hardware.

Nou als apple dat doet een x86 erin stoppen wordt apple gewoon een fabrikant van pc's en dus ineens een hoop concurenten zoals dell en compaq.
Lijkt mij dat ze gewoon verder moeten ontwikkelen met waar ze bezig mee zijn. Misschien gewoon een stap overslaan om "bij" te blijven.
