smc 7004br & 7004abr

Hey,
Weet iemand misschien het verschil tussen deze 2. Op de site van smc staat de 7004br niet meer, dus alleen de 7004abr. Iemand??

What are the differences between the 7004-ABR and the 7004-BR?

1. The ABR supports auto-failover from cable/DSL to dial-up/ISDN. If the service from your broadband ISP was temporarily disabled, the router would automatically sense the need to switch over to the backup dial-up or ISDN modem.

2. Regarding VPN protocol support, the ABR model is compatible with PPTP (point-to-point tunneling protocol), IP-Sec (IP-security), and L2TP (layer-2 tunneling protocol).

3. The ABR model has integrated time in Client Filtering feature. You can now filter outgoing ports on the LAN for a specific period of time (in hours).

4. There is no need to soft-reboot the ABR after making changes in the SETUP menus. The changes are saved in real-time.

5. The Virtual Server and Special Applications menus have the option of routing ports according to port type (TCP or UDP).

6. The IP address of the ABR is 192.168.2.1 whereas the IP of the BR is 192.168.123.254.

7. The ABR has a 32 bit ARM processor as opposed the 16 bit x86 processor in the BR.

En maken die dingen iets uit of niet? en kun je in nederland al ergens de ABR kopen?

De ABR is een nieuwe versie van de BR, andere firmeware ander look, andere processor.
Schijnt ook sneller te zijn in de LAN snelheid. Dat was de voornaamste verbetering. Toch is de BR de ouwe dus stabilier dan de ABR. De nieuwe heeft nog wat probleempjes.

Ik heb de ouwe ooit eens geinstalleerd, werkt perfect.

De ABR heeft meer mogelijkheden, en werkt daarom ook iets moelijker (je kan zowel client als source poorten aangeven; je kan kiezen tussen TCP en UDP), bij de BR is alles wat simpeler. Sommige dingen lijken toch minder makkelijk te gaan met de ABR. MSN file transfers is bv niet voor elkaar te krijgen (met de BR wel) en sommige ABR's schijnen nog wel eens vast te lopen.

Niet dat het slechte routers zijn hor, ik heb zelf een BR en die bevalt echt prima! Als je ze alle 2 nog kan krijgen zou ik voor de BR gaan.. Dijk van een router!
