'IOQD is set too low'

Hallo!

Een kennis van me heeft een enorm instabiele pc. Het is een 'nieuw' systeem (P3-650,196,17Gb) met een DFI moederbord (nooooit van gehoord). XP is geinstalleerd. Maar goed, om ter zake te komen: het gaat regelmatig mis. Hangers, spontane opstarters en programma's die gewoon niet opstarten. Waar het echt telkens misgaat, is bij het installeren van een brandprogramma. You name it, I've tried it (Nero, WinOnCD, Easy CD Creator). Niks werkt.

Ik wil dus graag achter het probleem zien te komen. Dus heb ik een aantal programmaatjes op het systeem losgelaten om de oorzaak te achterhalen. Onder andere SiSoft Sandra. Gewoon om te zien wat er nou precies voor een troep in zit (er waren nml geen manuals bijgeleverd). Sandra gaf bij de eerste de beste test het volgende aan: 'IOQD is set too low. This will influence your performance'. Waar dient deze optie voor en hoe moet ik het veranderen?

Laat ik nou precies hetzelfde probleem hebben. Die benchmarks halen met een 256MB rammetje CAS3 maar 337 en 340 in de testresultaten terwijl het vergelijkbare geheugen 800 haalt o.i.d. In ieder geval kan ik die optie dus ook niet terug vinden in mijn bios (shuttle AV11).

Misschien moet deze naar het "Processors, Mobo's & Geheugen" forum?

i'm from france and i just saw on your web site someone who overclocked his 500E to 803Mhz rock stable.

i just wana let you know that when you do this you reduce the pipeline of your cpu and your p!!! become a mere pentium with a cache buffer reduce to 1 instead of 8 , that's why the systeme get more stable and you cand run at much higher clock speed. The real deal is that when you do this and look at your benchs your p!!!800 is not better than a p!!!650 with the option 'in order queu depth" setted to 8. The cpu run higher but you get a SIGNFICIENT performance drop. just ask him to benchs his his computer at 650 with "ioqd" at 8 and 803 with ioqd at 1, chances are you'll get surprised!!!

standaardwaarde is 8 voor een bus van 66 tot 100 Mhz. bij 133 MHz zou hij nog maar 1 zijn. Ik weet niet of het om overclocken gaat maar kijk eerst maar eens wat voor waardes je hebt bij de standaard snelheid.

Ja maar zou er ook een andere benaming zijn voor IOQD, want dat woord is in het bios niet te vinden?

Cache Buffer?
Is het een Intel 810e chipset met geïntegreerde graphics?

Bij mij is er geen geintegreerd video hoor. Ik heb een shuttle AV11 mobo.
Dit is wat Sisoft zegt:

Warning W231 - The IOQD (Host Bus In-Order Queue Depth) is set too low, most likely 1, i.e. no queue. This indicates the depth of the host bus pipelining; thus 1 indicates that no pipelining is to be done on the bus. This reduces the performance of the host bus which is crucial to performance. P6 (Pentium Pro, II, III, Celeron) has an IOQD depth of 8 while the P4 has an IOQD of 12. Most chipsets have an IOQD of 4 or more.

Fix: Check that BIOS settings were not reset or set to Fail-Safe defaults. Reset them to Optimised or Normal settings

Bij nader inzien lijkt me jullie probleem waarschijnlijk dat 256MB reepjes niet goed ondersteund worden, maximaal 128MB per bank gebruiken, denk ik...
Ik had hetzelfde probleem op een Compaq PII, hij deed het wel maar het leek net of hij steeds ergens met zijn jas aan bleef haken...

Ai! Da's balen. Ik heb alleen 256mb modules. Werken die dan nog slechter dan 128mb modules of minstens even goed?

Het wordt dat bankje van je moederbord gewoon wat teveel, de makers waren niet voldoende op de toekomst voorbereid, zeg maar...
Hij kan het niet correct adresseren, als het ware...

Nou heb ik er gisteren 128mb in gezet maar daarbij geeft ie precies dezelfde melding...

*schop (van formaat kan ik wel zeggen)* Ik heb dus dit probleem ook. Geheugen is gewoon baggertraag (pardon le mot ), maar ik heb gewoon 128 mb reepjes. Waar is dit nou te veranderen in de bios en waar ligt de fout nou eigenlijk??
