http://www.gamebanshee.com/darkageofcamelot/
http://daoc.catacombs.com/
http://www.sertain.com/daoc/daocguilds.htm
http://camelot.stratics.com/index.shtml
Zoals Class & Progression.
http://camelotvault.ign.com/
1) Cleric, This is my area of expertise. The 2 main types of clerics are the smite cleric and the rejuv cleric. I started my cleric as a rejuv and later changed my template to the ever popular smite cleric. One thing you must remember in RvR battles is people die so quicklythe chance of you being able to get of that big 4 second heal before the person dies, are slim to none. 90% of my healing in battles were my 2 insta cast free heals. Smite clerics win battles for Albion.plain and simple. 7smite clerics and a minstrel is probably the best RvR group that Albion could field for most purposes. The rejuv cleric with the last rez spell was not as popular on the MLF server, but Ill tell you when youre rezzed at full hps and 50% power and can jump straight back into battlethat again wins battles. Archers hate smite clerics with a passion, along with the minstrel these 2 classes are youre sniper killers. In PvE my smite cleric was able to heal a group of 8 against the lvl 65 knights in Lyonesse so smite cleric's healing is not that bad.
2) Friar, The friar is a nice PvE character who can deal lots of damage with that staff of his, unfortunately at higher levels his defence is just so bad that if he takes agro, no amount of healing will keep him alive. Most higher lvl friars either quit the game or re-rolled other characters. Pretty much the same applies to RvR and PvP combat too.
3) Theurgist, I played this character too, to a fairly high lvl. They are the solo PvE gods of Albion who can solo oranges with little to no downtime and reds for that little bit of extra danger They are also in great demand for groups due to all the little extras they get. In RvR these guys are pretty good. Bladeturn, earth and Ice pets (note I did not say air petsdue to the sleep spell nerf these pets are only good for disrupting casters), nukes, buffs, speed chant, AE mezz (air) and AE root (ice). If you play this class expect to die lots in RvR.archers love to snipe these guys off as the come out of the portal keep.
4) Wizard, These guys complain all the time, though I am not sure why, they have the best AE damage in the realm when it comes to large encounters the battle could depend on whether these guys get a few spells of before they die. Yes you will die lots, but you also have the potential to win battles for Albion. PvE wise they are pretty much in demand by groups, with good damage output and buffs.
5) Armsman, The main tanks of Albion, the bread and butter of the realm in both RvR and PvE. In standoffs you also have you x-bow, which though has a bad range, I have heard reports of hitting for 200+ damage (dont bother to spec in it much though). Polearms, supposed to be the best damaging weapon in the game. I pretty much levelled most of the game with 2 armsmen, one slash the other thrust, both high shield spec. The slash guy now wishes he had gone for thrust for RvR reasons (less resists). You will always be in demand in all areas if you play this class.
6) Mercenary, A low defence tank with high damage output. As a cleric I used to hate these guys in PvE. They would constantly take the mob agro which would require me to chain cast heal them and would result in long downtimes. My solution to this was not to buff them (less damage output). These guys are dont quite hack it in RvR for some reasonI expect its the low defence. This class needs a bit of work to be complete.
7) Paladin, Some of you may think hes a tank with magic. I used to love a group with a pally, those heal chants would take the agro right of a cleric who has healed too much and has mobs on him. His damage output is way too low! Every Paladin that has RvRed, has complained, no range, no speed, low damage output and useless chants (RvR wise). Would be nice to see these guys get some form of Nuke like the Midgard Thane.
Cabalist, The most unwanted class in RvR and PvE. This had the lowest population of all the classes pretty much on every server. Youre pretty much going be doomed to a life of soloing unless you have some nice friends. We had a high lvl cabalist in our guild and in RvR she was greatthose debuffs are nasty!! Grouped with her she would debuff and I would AE nukelots of dead badies
9) Sorcerer, This is the reason why Albion is pretty much loosing the war on every serverCROWD CONTROL!!! Ill say it again CROWD CONTROL!! One more time just so you know that I am serious on this one CROWD CONTROL!!! 80% of battles are won or lost by who has the best Crowd Controller. Some mezz spells last over one minute. Can you imaging taking a group of 8-15 players out of the fight for over one minute with just one spell. Our crowd control expert is a robed caster who dies in two hits (sometimes one) Midgard and Hibernia have both of their CC experts as healers with better hps, armour and instant heals. This results in the sorcerer being a very unpopular class. We only had 2 high level sorcerers on our server. Lots of people re-rolled this character when they realised how valuable to the realm they can be!! Everyone be a sorcerer!!!!!!! (well not really but we need more of you guys to win battles).
10) Infiltrator, This is the most difficult class to play in both aspects of the game, both RvR and PvE. When you play this class well, you know that you have mastered the finer arts of combat. Unfortunatly these guys do not bring much to the PvE scene and as a result have a hard time lvling up. But wow are they great in RvR and PvP. A new patch allowed these guys to climb keep walls. The usual task in taking a keep was once the doors were down, storm the battlements to take out the archers that had been killing all our people while we battered down the doors. No problem any more with a few high lvl Infiltrators around. Climb the walls and kill anything and everything inside. Trust me people if you see an infiltrator looking for a groupinvite him in. His damage output may not be what you would consider great, but that same guy will save your life later in RvR.
11) Minstrel, Another class that is way underplayed in Albion, though I am not sure whynext to scouts these guys have the potential to be the best solo killers in the game. Stealth, speed, inst DDs, inst stun, mezz, weapon spec, and chain armour all make for a very diverse and effective character. This character is very hard to play, with the clumsy interface of instruments and weapons. As a minstrel your talents will always be in demand in all aspects of the game. Catsers will love you for your mana song, everyone loves you for your speed song. You can really have fun with this type of character. Play one and find out for yourself. On a side note my new character on the UK servers will be a minstrel
12) Scout, Last but not least. The damage output of the scout at high lvls is amazing. Lower level scouts will struggle to get into groups, but if you keep your lonbow maxed and melee skill fairly high (ignore stealth at early lvls) then you should be able to plod along. At higher lvls the damage these guys could do is amazingIve heard reports of scouts crit shot hitting for over 1200 at lvl 50 (RvR). Sure a tank might be able to hit engage, but not many tanks have over 1200 hps at high lvls. Compared to the other archer classes you are substandard, yea you get a little shield, more damage and like a step in extra range, but your draw time will be over 4 seconds on a normal shot compared to 2.5 seconds on the other archers. Personally I hate archers of all types, it involves little to no skill to kill someone hidden from range. To top it all off the other 2 archer classes get a instant cast speed spell to escape any encounter. Way to many of these guys on any serverbut they do a valuable job for our realm.
I wrote this with the hope that some people will not go through 30-40 levels and then find out that their chosen classis not what they thought it would be. I also hope that more Albions will decide to play our harder classes, that reap the rewards for the realm later on.
