Maar Sigma Designs, bekend van ondermeer de Hollywood+ MPEG1/2 decoder kaartjes, komt binnen een maand met een MPEG1/2/4 decoder kaart op de markt genaamd de X-Card. Deze X-Card zal ondermeer ook DivX films kunnen afspelen (DivX >= 4.02), dit heeft men bewerkstelligd i.s.m. DivX networks.

to this newsgroup that Sigma has announced today a new PCI hardware decoder
board to support the playback of DivX movies (4.02 and higher), DVD/VCD/SVCD
movies besides the various MPEG files.
This board is baptized as the "X-Card". While Hollywood Plus supports MCI
only, this board gives the extra support for DirectShow and proprietary DVD
navigation. The use of the Windows Media Player (version 6.x, 7.x, ...) is
supported.
It includes a new player to replace DVD Station that supports Skin GUIs and
extensive file playlists. It offers a 30 bit VGA output giving superb
colorful quality compared to the regular 24 bits VGA used in graphic cards.
It plays in full-screen mode on VGA monitor and on TV sets. It uses a new
pass-thru cable that has virtually no degradation even at the highest
resolutions/refresh rates offered by today's monitors/graphic cards.
It also offers digital overlay for users who want it, provided the graphics
card in the system supports the VPE feature (such as ATI and nVidia boards).
The X-Card offers the component YUV (NTSC/PAL/HDTV - 480P/720P/1080i), RGB
with SCART cable (for Europe), widescreen TV outputs in addition to the
regular composite and S-Video outputs. This provides an excellent output
of DivX movies on your TV set, making use also of a zoom feature that allows
the user to magnify any part of the movie on the monitor or TV set.
For audio output, the X-Card supports the S/P DIF for the digital AC-3/DTS
output to external decoders. It also plays back the AC-3 in surround mode
on the regular speakers.
The X-Card supports also the playback of MP3 audio files and sending the
output either to the speakers or to the external amplifier (S/P DIF).
It allows to watch your digital pictures ( JPEG, BMP, ...) format on your TV
set making of it an exceptional viewing experience.
The X-Card works under Win 98/Me and Win XP. Later on, it will support also
the Linux systems.
NOTE : A new Remote Control is included in the package that should retail
for less than $100 for an easy comfortable entertainment..
