The UD servers will be shutdown for approximately four hours, beginning at 10 AM CST (16:00 UTC) on Monday, January 14,2002. This maintenance will complete our work to synchronize member, device and team statistics across all databases. At the same time we will be loading some new THINK files into production.
- Member Expectations -
During the server downtime, United Devices members can expect the following conditions:
Inability to connect - Active United Devices Agent programs will be unable to connect to connect to the servers, and will return the error, "Unable to connect to the UD server. Backing off..."
Limited Access to Member Websites - Some portions of the Member Websites require login information from the United Devices servers. These portions of the Member Websites will be unavailable during the update. The Member Forums will be unaffected as they require a separate login.
An Automatic Update/Larger Download - The United Devices Agent is self updating, and will download and install the latest version of the THINK module when the servers are once again available. However this will require a larger download than usual. The typical download size is approximately 20k, however the download size will be approximately 700k.
Connection Delays - Due to the larger download size, the United Devices servers will be very busy following the update while handling longer connections. Due to the size of our device base, members may continue to experience difficulty in connecting ("Unable to connect...") for two or three days after the notice is given that the servers are once more online. Please be patient.
