[speculation mode]I still love Ars, and I still read it every day. I still love the OpenForums and the community here. I still read and post here daily. I have, however, decided that for my distributed computing efforts, I want to participate in a team(s) solely dedicated to distributed computing with no outside influences. This was the point of the new teams.
He doesn't seem to want to admit it, but there appears to be an undertone where the 'outside influence' is important. Apparently something happened, and he didn't like it and/or he didn't get what he wanted and decided to quit. Probably a quest for power from the side of the quitters. Not very promising for the new team, since the discussions and quarrels will start there too before you can say
Yes, English can be weird. It can be understood through tough thorough thought, though.
I think Randy tries to say that a lot of big teams around us are having this kind of troubles. Both AT and TIMO/SO are split up into different teams. A while ago there where problems at SETI@NL causing Cobra-ICE to leave, and now Ars is the team that is getting troubles.
Now he thinks DPC will split up that easy too, leaving smaller parts everywhere around.
But, as Scraper already said, i don't think this will happen. Times can change, and that can go very fast, but i don't think DPC will split into different smaller teams.
And eh, Randy, you are right, i haven't seen that
