Hallo,
i have recently bought a Soltek 75DRV2 KT266A ATX mainboard. I am experiencing trouble with the use of my microsoft internet keyboard pro. Namely the: "Keyboard error or no keyboard present" error during bootup. This will only happen after a power-down and power-up using the ATX power switch. After unplugging the keyboard connector and plugging it back in, i i can press F1 and continue. A more specified description is described below, but first I would like to know if there are any known issues with any keyboards with this mainboard. The mainboard has bios rev. K3.5.
The problem is the detection of the keyboard when booting up the computer. When i first switch it on, there will be the error message "Keyboard error or no keyboard present", and i am 100% sure that it is attached well and that the keyboard is not defective. (i have tried another keyboard as well with the same result, and both of the tested keyboards work fine on other pc's with an AOpen motherboard, and also on an Abit motherboard). The system does not respond to any keypresses (which is logical since the keyboard is not detected). Even when i make sure that the keyboard connector is well connected by pressing on it gently, the keyboard doesn't work. Even pulling it out a little bit but not disconnecting it and then pushing it back in, doesn't help. But, when i completely remove the small ps/2 keyboard plug and then put it back in, i can press F1 and the system resumes booting up and everything works fine, even after a system reset. But the problem returns when the system has been powered down and then booted up again. When the system is up and running (after taking out the keyboard ps/2 plug and reconnecting it as i described above) i experience no ploblems at all regarding the functioning of the keyboard.
I have already returned one Soltek motherboard of this type and bought another one somewhere else, but it has the same problem. Therefore i suspect an error in the BIOS routine.
Here is a list of all the hardware installed in this system:
AMD Athlon XP 1600+
Two Infineon 256Mb DDR CAS2 memory DIMMS PC266/PC2100
Asus V7100 AGP videocard, Nvidia Geforce2MX
IBM 60GXP harddrive 60Gb 7200rpm
Plextor Plexwriter CDRW 8x4x32x
Asus CDRom 50x
Pioneer DVDRom S105z
Soundblaster Live! PLayer 1024 PCI
E-Tech Bullet 56k6 PCI modem
Sitecom gamers network kit, network card PCI
Chaintech PCI RAID controller Highpoint 370
Two IBM 75GXP 30Gb 7200rpm drives in RAID 0 configuration
Hansol Mazellan 500P monitor
Microsoft Internet Keyboard Pro (PS/2 and also USB for the built in USB-hub)
Logitech iFeel mouseman optical USB
TSP 420Watt Power supply
Heeft iemand hetzelfde probleem of beter: een OPLOSSING??
Groeten,
Ariën.
